Ernie Hudson shares update on his role in upcoming Ghostbusters sequel

Ernie Hudson has provided an update on his role in the upcoming Ghostbusters sequel. The original Ghostbuster actor revealed that his character had been "pushed aside" by the studio during production and marketing.

Hudson is now "delighted" to be back. He recently appeared on The Howard Stern Wrap Up Show to reflect on his experience with Ghostbusters.

The role isn’t what he thought it was

Recently, Ernie Hudson shared an update on his role in the upcoming Ghostbusters sequel during a radio interview on The Howard Stern Wrap Up Show. The actor, who played Winston Zeddemore alongside Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis in 1984's sci-fi action comedy, discussed his experiences on set and how the studio didn't support him.

Hudson expressed his admiration for Ivan Reitman and the rest of the cast, yet he felt the studio wasn't particularly inclusive on set. Although he received minimal credit in the movie, his face didn't even make it onto any posters.

Now, Hudson is thrilled to be returning to the franchise and can't wait to start working with the team. After reading through the script, he says he's delighted that he'll have an even larger role in this upcoming movie.

In 2021, the next Ghostbusters movie will be released and although it won't include all the original cast members, it still offers fans a chance to revisit the franchise. Jason Reitman - son of series co-creator Ivan Reitman - will direct it and include many newcomers such as Paul Rudd's Gary, Mckenna Grace's Phoebe, Finn Wolfhard's Trevor and Carrie Coon's Callie in supporting roles.

Fans can look forward to more mentorship roles for the original cast members in this upcoming Ghostbusters sequel. Since Zeddemore bought a firehouse at the end of the last movie, it's likely he'll be helping shape an entirely new generation of Ghostbusters, keeping the franchise vibrant for years to come.

Though it remains uncertain if Hudson will return for another movie, he hopes it works out. He said he's been measured for suits and hopes to be part of the production.

He also revealed that the role wasn't quite what he expected when he first read the script. According to Howard Stern's Wrap Up Show, there was a distinct plot difference in the final draft of the play.

He’s happy to be back

Ernie Hudson returned to Winston Zeddemore after his role in 1984's Ghostbusters with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis - a role which he remembers fondly but wasn't always easy for him.

For years, Hudson has been disappointed in the lack of recognition given to his character in 1984's movie. While other cast members from that original installment have received their due recognition in subsequent installments, Hudson feels that his work has not been adequately recognized.

He's delighted to be back in the role, working alongside Reitman and his son Jason who directed last year's Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Working on such an exciting team was exactly what he had been hoping for.

Hudson expressed his eagerness to return to the franchise as a whole, especially after witnessing its remarkable growth over recent years. He noted that Ghostbusters has become something of a "family film," one that people can enjoy together.

It's impossible to discuss Ghostbusters without thinking of Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd or Harold Ramis' roles; yet Winston Zeddemore was also an integral part of the original film.

He remains an iconic character, so it will be thrilling to see him return in the future. The upcoming sequel, set for 2021, should feature his character hopefully making an appearance.

Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan wrote the new film, directed by Jae Lee, featuring Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, and Mckenna Grace. It follows a single mother with two kids as they move to a small town where they discover their deceased grandfather had left them an intriguing legacy.

Once they arrive, the family discovers they share an affinity with the original Ghostbusters. As they uncover more of this connection, they become the next generation of Ghostbusters.

It's a huge responsibility, but also an incredibly rewarding one. His role has allowed him to craft his own distinctive style and collaborate with brilliant filmmakers like Ivan Reitman - and now, he's returning to the role that got him started in show business!

He’s looking forward to working with the team

Over the past 38 years, fans of the classic series Ghostbusters have watched as its stars Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis), Ray (Dan Aykroyd) and Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) have built a legacy. One returning actor to join this exciting ensemble is Ernie Hudson - who recently discussed his role in the upcoming sequel and how eager he is to collaborate once more with this wonderful cast!

The actor, born in Benton Harbor, Michigan and a Yale Drama School graduate, began his career as a stage actor before landing his first feature film role as Ghostbusters (1984). Although this was an early break for him, he still struggled to find success.

After several more years, the film led to a successful 1989 sequel and Winston Zeddemore finally found his place on screen. Now an affluent businessman, Hudson even purchased the old Ghostbusters firehouse - suggesting that his character may receive additional screentime in future films.

Hudson recently provided an update on his role in Ghostbusters 4. He revealed that he has been reading a script for the movie but is waiting to hear what they present him with.

He expressed his enthusiasm to collaborate with Jason Reitman, son of director Ivan Reitman who directed both movies before passing away in February 2018. Jason will direct their upcoming project together.

Hudson expressed his hopes that the next Ghostbusters sequel will "evolve" and add more layers to the story. He believes that this film should examine how ghosts manage to survive while also exploring how it impacts their world.

Hudson is thrilled that his beloved characters are returning to the franchise and is eager to collaborate with the team once more. He's grateful for being part of this new chapter and hopes that Ghostbusters 4 marks a lasting beginning for this beloved franchise.

He’s not sure if he’ll be in the movie

On The Howard Stern Wrap Up Show, actor Ernie Hudson revealed an update on his role in the upcoming Ghostbusters sequel. Notably, the 77-year-old revealed that he is uncertain if he'll appear or not in the film.

Ernie Hudson has been a staple in Hollywood for decades, best known for his role as Winston Zeddemore in the Ghostbusters franchise. He made his first appearance with Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis as part of Bill Murray's original cast: Winston Zeddemore in 1984.

In the original movie, Winston is introduced as a timid firefighter who joins the team in order to save New York from an impending supernatural outbreak. He quickly becomes an invaluable member of their group and Hudson credits Aykroyd and Ramis with creating a character that wasn't demeaning.

He gives credit to both actors for making the character believable and giving him heart and charm. Director Ivan Reitman deserves special mention for keeping the Ghostbusters grounded.

As you may recall, the original Ghostbusters movie was a major success and generated significant profits for Columbia Pictures. This led them to produce additional movies in the series while making Hudson an household name in the process.

At times, however, he felt the studio was treating him unfairly. In particular, he claimed they "selectively ignored" him during production and marketing of the movie, with no official poster featuring him whatsoever.

Since then, Hudson has kept himself busy by appearing in numerous other films and television shows. Additionally, he starred in two video games as well.

While he enjoys being part of the Ghostbusters franchise, there are some aspects that he doesn't particularly enjoy. He particularly takes issue with how certain other characters have been handled by the filmmakers.

Hudson is hoping the upcoming installment will give his character more recognition and bring about some change. On The Howard Stern Wrap Up Show, Hudson revealed his plans to film some scenes for the upcoming film and hopes he'll be included.
