Lady Gaga and Cynthia Germanotta founded The Born This Way Foundation to promote youth empowerment and address issues like self-worth, wellbeing, antibullying, mentoring and career development.

The Foundation strives to equip young people with the tools needed to create a kinder and braver world through high-impact programming, youth-led conversations, and genuine partnerships.

About the Foundation

The Lady Gaga Foundation is a youth-centric charity created by Lady Gaga and her mother Cynthia Germanotta to inspire kindness, provide support to youth, and create a kinder world. Its programs promote healthy conversations about mental wellness among young people, connect them to resources and services they need, as well as creating communities that prioritize mental health awareness.

In 2012, Gaga launched the foundation with $1.2 million from her personal funds and a grant of $500K from MacArthur Foundation. Nowadays it relies on individual donors as well as corporate partners like Deloitte, Starbucks and DonorsChoose for daily operations.

On their Joanne Tour, team members of Born This Way Foundation worked alongside local nonprofits at each stop and gained insight into their challenges and unmet needs. This knowledge spurred the creation of the Kindness in Community Fund - which offers direct assistance to nonprofit partners and the communities they serve.

In 2019, the organization launched Re*Generation, a program focused on youth empowerment and supporting organizations that address social and environmental problems. One partner organization of this initiative is STANDUP FOR KIDS, an organization dedicated to counseling and guiding homeless teens living on America's streets.

Virgin Unite, a non-profit foundation that tackles social and environmental problems through entrepreneurial approaches, is another successful example. Together with Re*Generation, the two organizations have raised more than $500 million for charitable causes worldwide and supported hundreds of charitable organizations.

It is also striving to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental illness and suicide through its Hope Givers program, which features mental health professionals donating their time to young people in need. This year, the foundation is joining forces with Mighty Writers - a nonprofit that hosts writing workshops for kids with autism or PTSD.

The Foundation has been a major voice in raising awareness of mental health issues. Their 21-day campaign, #BeKind21, strives to put kindness at the forefront of our conversations and actions.

In addition to mental health, the Born This Way Foundation has also been working to empower young people through various programs such as its "Born Brave Bus Tour" and a digital experience called Born This Nation that provides fans with an informative tailgate before concerts. Moving forward, the foundation hopes to collaborate with more partners on initiatives that promote youth health and well-being.

Inspiring Kindness

In 2012, Lady Gaga and her mother Cynthia Germanotta co-founded the Born This Way Foundation with the mission of making kindness fashionable. Through its programs for youth empowerment, mental health awareness and anti-bullying awareness, this non-profit organization strives to make kindness cool again.

The Foundation collaborates with a range of partners to conduct and disseminate research focused on youth wellness and empowerment. It also works to foster communities that prioritize mental health issues and provides young people with resources for success in overcoming difficulties.

For singer-songwriter Alicia Keys, creating a braver and kinder world is an issue close to her heart. After facing bullying in high school and college, she wants to help other young people face similar difficulties.

According to the Born This Way Foundation, Gaga's work is motivated by her belief that youth have a voice and can be empowered to make changes in their lives. To encourage kids to become better citizens, the organization has launched programs that teach positive coping strategies, teach listening skills, and give them a sense of belonging and validation.

One of the Foundation's most successful initiatives is its annual "Be Kind 21" campaign, which encourages people to do an act of kindness for someone else every day in September. It also commemorates National Kindness Month by inviting cities to launch their own initiatives and programs.

This year, the City of San Diego joined forces with Born This Way Foundation and encouraged residents to participate in their community's campaign by performing an act of kindness. Participants could do anything from picking up litter, offering someone a ride, writing a holiday message or donating new items to a local nonprofit.

In addition to the campaign, the Foundation also launched Channel Kindness - an online platform that compiles inspirational stories and personal notes of empowerment from young people. The website features an interactive gallery as well as a blog section where visitors can share their own tales of kindness.

The Born This Way Foundation has also established the Kindness in Community Fund, a grant program that awards grants to 22 organizations that promote youth mental wellness. These grantees are informed and led by youth with practices of inclusion, access, and equity at their core. Organizations were chosen based on their impact on local communities as well as their capacity for providing holistic services like mental health support, academic success, and job training.

Youth Empowerment

Gaga founded the Born This Way Foundation in 2012 to support programmes that empower youth. The foundation collaborates with numerous partners such as MacArthur Foundation and Harvard University.

The foundation's programs include anti-bullying campaigns, mentoring initiatives and social media engagement. It aims to equip youth with the tools they need to become leaders, advocates and agents of change in their communities.

On February 29th, Lady Gaga joined Oprah Winfrey and spiritual leader Deepak Chopra at Harvard University to launch her foundation. Through this collaboration with her mother Cynthia Germanotta and other partners, Lady Gaga hopes to empower young people by addressing issues like self-confidence, well-being, anti-bullying, mentoring programs, and career development opportunities.

As part of her launch, Gaga hosted a summit with youth leaders and experts. Her aim is to motivate young people to use their power for creating a kinder, braver world.

"Today's children need safe spaces to explore their true selves, a place where they can develop leadership skills and have opportunities to make a positive impact on their communities," Gaga stated. She pointed out research which indicates most bullying is unintentional and doesn't take place at school."

At her launch event, she also addressed her own experiences with bullying when she was a teenager; however, her tone was upbeat and positive. She avoided the fear messages that often accompany such discussions, which only serve to compound harm and exaggerate the issue rather than prompt real change.

Her message was that bullying is a symptom of an underlying social issue, specifically an intolerance for differences. She stressed the importance of teaching kids that everyone deserves respect and acceptance.

She stressed the significance of providing them with the support they need to remain strong and resilient. She encouraged them to share their stories online, asserting her desire to be part of their journey towards creating a kinder, braver world.

Lady Gaga recruited Susan Swearer, a professor of school psychology from Penn State College of Education and Human Sciences, to chair an advisory board for her foundation. This group includes researchers from several universities that will give feedback on programs, assess their effects and apply research to future initiatives across various universities.

Mental Health

Lady Gaga is making mental health a priority in her world, and she's taking action to give back in an inspiring way. Her makeup brand Haus Laboratories recently joined forces with Born This Way Foundation to donate $1 from every purchase made on their site to BTWF's efforts in support of mental health awareness initiatives.

Lady Gaga and Cynthia Germanotta founded the foundation to promote mental health among young people, working together to build a kinder and braver world. Its programs include high-impact programming, youth-led conversations, and strategic cross-sector partnerships. It strives to make kindness cool, validate emotions of young people, and eliminate stigma surrounding mental health.

In November 2018, Gaga opened up about her struggles with mental health during her SAG-AFTRA Foundation Artists Inspiration Awards speech and encouraged artists to speak openly about their experiences in order to combat the stigma that surrounds mental illness. Additionally, she co-authored an essay on suicide with World Health Organization director-general Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyus that focused on this topic.

Furthermore, the foundation has launched a free online course to teach teens how to recognize and respond to signs that their friends may be struggling with mental health issues. This course is available in three languages: English, French and Spanish.

This program, inspired by Mental Health First Aid, aims to equip young people with the ability to recognize a crisis and act as a trusted friend or family member. In addition to understanding how to talk openly about one's own mental health, students will also discover what resources are available for them and others in times of difficulty.

For those interested in getting involved, the Born This Way Foundation offers volunteer work and other ways to further its mission. For example, its mental health initiative Find Your Anchor offers resources for schools and communities to foster resilience.

This initiative is especially crucial in schools hard-hit by the opioid epidemic, as it has compounded an already existing mental health crisis. Chicago Public Schools officials have decided to share this initiative designed by Gaga and her Born This Way Foundation with teachers and counselors in order to better recognize students' struggles and motivate them to seek assistance if needed.

Lady Gaga Perfume Review

Lady Gaga has achieved global fame since her 2008 debut album The Fame. Additionally, she is a vocal champion for gay rights issues.

Lady Gaga's debut fragrance was a major success, debuting in 2012 and boasting an eye-catching bottle design, black liquid that sprays clear, and intoxicating notes of belladonna, saffron, and incense.

Eau De Parfum

Lady Gaga is a global pop icon and has dabbled in fashion and cosmetics. Her first fragrance, Fame (2012), sold like hotcakes among her devoted followers.

This unisex perfume features notes of citrus, floral and leather. It's ideal for women who appreciate feminine yet still masculine fragrances; plus it's one of the top celebrity scents currently on the market.

Eau de parfum is the most concentrated form of perfume, featuring higher percentages of essences than other concentrations. Typically, this mixture consists of essential oils, natural absolutes or synthetic ingredients diluted in alcohol for ease of application.

Eau de parfum has many beneficial effects, such as moisturizing and soothing the skin. Additionally, it can reduce stress levels and boost energy levels.

Eucalyptus oil is a common component in eau de parfum products, helping to improve blood circulation and relieve pain and inflammation. You can find it in everything from shampoos and lotions to mouthwashes.

Myrrh is another ingredient commonly used in eau de parfum. This ancient herb has been around since ancient times, making it a great addition to woody or oriental-themed fragrances without overpowering other notes.

It has also earned the name "Woman's Oil" due to its health benefits, particularly during menstruation and menopause. Furthermore, it can help freshen breath and is an ideal ingredient for people prone to sinus infections.

Eucalyptus has a powerful, refreshing aroma that's ideal for those seeking an easy-to-wear perfume that lasts long.

Lady Gaga is an enthusiastic fan of this fragrance and believes it has a special connection to her music. She hopes it will motivate people to be their best selves, giving them confidence and pride in who they are - which is why she created this scent in the first place.

Eau De Toilette

Eau De Toilette is a light and refreshing fragrance that can be worn day or night. It is intended for body use after baths, showers or shaving, with more concentrated essential oils than ordinary perfume. Eau De Toilette typically comes in spray bottles.

Women have access to an array of fragrance strengths, from Eau de Cologne to Eau de Parfum. Understanding these ranges is important as they give valuable insight into the intensity and longevity of a fragrance.

Generally, fragrances with lower concentrations of fragrant essences will last shorter than ones with higher concentrations. But it's also essential to consider how you feel when wearing the scent and whether they work together on your skin.

Finally, select a fragrance that you enjoy and works well on your skin. If it does, then it will likely last for an extended period of time.

Fame, Gaga's first fragrance, launched in 2012 and quickly became a worldwide sensation. It epitomized style with an unforgettable splashy splashy splash.

This fall, Gaga released her second perfume, Eau de Gaga. This subtler offering takes on a floral, woodsy and musk aroma that's ideal for any special occasion.

It has a strong, but not overpowering scent that lingers on the skin for an extended period of time. This fragrance is ideal for fall, and can be worn by both men and women alike.

This fragrant blend consists of Lime, White Violet, Leather and Woody Notes for a fresh, sensual aroma. It begins with an invigorating burst of citrus before transitioning into beautiful white violet in the middle.

This scent's base blends leather and woody notes for an earthy, musky aroma. It has a bold, enigmatic quality that appeals to both men and women - making it the perfect fall scent!

Eau De Cologne

Lady Gaga's Eau De Cologne doesn't boast many unique selling points, which is unfortunate as it's just an unassuming fragrance that doesn't really tie in to her fame.

This floral woody musk fragrance was released in 2014 and can be found at most department stores.

Lady Gaga's second unisex perfume, Eau De Gaga, was unveiled through Haus Laboratories label and Coty Inc partnership. Steven Klein snapped a photo of Gaga surrounded by naked men to announce the launch.

Nick Knight designed this black liquid that sprays clear in a bottle that looks almost ceramic-like - almost as if it's made out of black glass!

Gaga collaborated with perfumer Ursula Wandel on this fragrance. She's renowned for her work on perfumes for Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, and Christian Dior; additionally, she designed Lady Gaga's first perfume, Fame.

The perfume begins with a zesty burst of lime, exuding vibrant energy. It then transitions into an intoxicating trail made up of leather notes that bring out its primal quality.

Gaga chose a more understated design for her second fragrance, in stark contrast to the vibrant bottle she debuted with her first. This rectangular bottle features sleek edges and features an iridescent silver plaque on the front.

Lady Gaga's perfume does not come with any unique selling points, but it appears to be an attempt by her to move away from her fame-driven past and find a more positive path. It's refreshing to see a celebrity perfumer take less of a cynical approach - especially when they have been working with the same people for years.

Eau De Gaga may lack the flash and glitz, but it still manages to deliver a decent citrus-floral leather perfume for less money than some more expensive celebuscent duds. While not perfect, Eau De Gaga still makes for an enjoyable fragrance at half the cost of more expensive offerings.

For those seeking something more intricate, there are plenty of eaux de parfum to choose from. Although they can be harder to come by, if you search hard enough you might just find one at an affordable price point.

Eau De Body

Gaga has always had a flair for provocative, seductive and alluring aromas. So it's fitting that her second fragrance, Eau de Gaga, is an aquatic woody musk created with Ursula Wandel of Givaudan.

In 2014, Haus Laboratories unisex fragrance debuted through Lady Gaga's collaboration with Coty Inc. It was promoted in a one-minute video directed by Steven Klein that featured two shirtless men wearing short, low-cut gowns. Additionally, there was an exclusive duet between Gaga and Tony Bennett called "I Can't Give You Anything But Love," from their collaborative jazz album Cheek to Cheek.

Eau de Gaga opens with sparkling lime and lemon, reminiscent of San Pellegrino's ice-covered slices of citrus. The citrus is not overly sweet; rather, it has a fresh and tart character - almost like drinking lemonade with a slice of grapefruit added.

As the citrus and tea aromas fade away, leather notes emerge. This leather note is very refined - not too astringent nor fatty - which I find appealing. It reminds me of classic tea fragrances from Elizabeth Arden and other brands in this price range.

It's not too citrusy or cologne-like; rather, it just smells of citrus and tea with a subtle hint of violet at the top. The lime and tea combine with leather for an unmistakably sophisticated, well-done harmony.

This fragrance is incredibly sophisticated and would make an excellent introduction to unisex colognes and woods/leather scents. I much prefer it over Gaga's first perfume, Fame, which was of poor quality and so cheap that it quickly became just another olfactory distraction unrelated to her music.

Though simple and lacking complexity or originality, this celebrity scent is still well done, of good quality and relatively inexpensive - making it a great value all around.

I find this fragrance refreshing and relaxing to wear. It isn't overly spicy or hot, just a cool, comfortable fragrance that could work for any occasion - from daytime to night out. Unfortunately, its longevity is somewhat lacking compared to some of my favorite edts in terms of sillage or longevity.
