Established in 1981 by John Prine, Oh Boy Records is an independent label created to support his music career. At its early stages, the label operated as a crowdfunding platform as Prine's dedicated fans ordered from their mail order catalog and sent their payments directly to him.

Since its founding, the label has signed a variety of artists to its roster. San Francisco Bay area artist Tre Burt joined in late 2019, followed by Colorado's Emily Scott Robinson in 2021; both these individuals grew up listening to and appreciating Prine's songs.

Although Prine passed away in 2020, his legacy lives on through Oh Boy Records, which continues to sign new artists with a similar passion for his music. Recently, Western Kentucky country queen Kelsey Waldon signed to Oh Boy - a label she had been an admirer of since her teenage years.

Arlo McKinley from Ohio followed suit in 2020, releasing Die Midwestern on the label and enjoying an ever-increasing fan base. He compared working with the small team at the label to being in his high school band; there's definitely a similar spirit there!

Kelsey Waldon and Arlo McKinley are the last remaining members of Oh Boy. Both hold a special place in their hearts for Prine's music, as well as for the community he created with his fans.
