lady gaga yellow diamond

Last year, Lady Gaga stunned the Oscars with her captivating performance alongside Bradley Cooper for A Star Is Born and her iconic 128-carat yellow diamond gown that had a long tradition of being worn by actresses.

She's become only the third woman to wear it since Audrey Hepburn donned it for a publicity photo shoot for Breakfast at Tiffany's in 1961. So what are our thoughts on this stunning find?

History

The lady gaga yellow diamond has a distinguished past, beginning with its debut by socialite Mary Whitehouse in 1920. Jean Schlumberger later set it into a ribbon rosette necklace which Audrey Hepburn donned for publicity photos for her 1961 film Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Gaga donned the diamond to the Oscars in 2019, where she won Best Original Song for her performance of "Shallow" from A Star Is Born alongside co-star Bradley Cooper. Dressed in a custom Alexander McQueen gown and black gloves, the singer took inspiration from Audrey Hepburn's costuming in Breakfast at Tiffany's for her red carpet appearance.

At the ceremony, she changed into another black gown to perform her hit song on stage with Cooper. However, it was her $30 million 128-carat Tiffany necklace which caught everyone's attention.

It is the largest yellow diamond ever to grace a red carpet and the first time it has been walked by a female celebrity. Prior to this appearance, it had only been on display at Tiffany's Fifth Avenue store in New York City.

On the 175th anniversary of Tiffany & Company, the legendary stone was transformed into a breathtaking necklace featuring 62 white diamonds and complemented with matching earrings. This design was created by Tiffany & Co chief artistic officer Reed Krakoff who is on a mission to modernize fine jewellery while "loosening the formality" associated with diamonds.

Tiffany & Company's yellow diamond is a symbol of beauty, elegance and excellence. It is also one of the world's most valuable gemstones - estimated to be worth over $4 million per carat.

Origins

Lady Gaga's iconic yellow diamond has long been a showpiece at the Oscars, so it should come as no surprise that it was its own star of the show. Gaga wore it last February in an Alexander McQueen gown inspired by Audrey Hepburn who famously donned this same diamond for publicity photos for Breakfast at Tiffany's back in 1961.

Over its 143 year history, only three women have ever worn this 141-carat yellow diamond: Mrs. E. Sheldon Whitehouse in 1957 and Audrey Hepburn in 1961 for publicity shots for the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Although such a significant gemstone, Tiffany did not set the stone into a necklace until 2012 to commemorate their 175th anniversary. It was set into a Jean Schlumberger ribbon rosette necklace, which Audrey Hepburn also donned for promotional photos of the film.

Since then, the prized gem has been transformed into various designs, such as Gaga's pendant-style necklace worn at the Oscars. Additionally, it will star in an upcoming film called Death on the Nile, based on Agatha Christie's 1937 novel of that name.

Due to this success, it has gained much acclaim and praise - even being featured on the cover of Vanity Fair magazine!

Gaga has made it clear that she doesn't plan to remove the diamond from her neck at any point. On The Graham Norton Show, she revealed Tiffany had a team of security guards protecting the necklace at all times. Later, when leaving Madonna's manager's home with the stone in her car, Gaga was pulled over by police and politely given back the diamond.

Size

Lady Gaga dazzled on the red carpet at the 2019 Oscars wearing an Alexander McQueen gown, leather opera gloves and a stunning yellow diamond around her neck - an homage to her movie A Star Is Born and its director Bradley Cooper. Her stunning ensemble was an ode to both men!

Lady Gaga donned the iconic Tiffany & Co yellow diamond during her Academy Awards performance, which Audrey Hepburn last wore during publicity shots for her 1961 film Breakfast At Tiffany's. For years it had been stored away, but recently it was brought out again by the brand to commemorate its return.

A truly magnificent and iconic piece of jewellery, the cushion-cut brilliant is estimated to be worth around $30 million and was discovered in South Africa over 140 years ago by Tiffany & Co.

In 2012, Tiffany re-set this stunning diamond to commemorate their 175th anniversary. The centre stone is now set in a smaller setting that magnifies its stunning radiance with 58 brilliant-cut diamonds and 20 Lucida(r) diamonds - Tiffany's patented cut - making this an absolutely magnificent jewel.

The Tiffany diamond, the world's biggest and most expensive gem, has long been associated with elegance and class. It was worn by socialite Mary Whitehouse at the 1957 Tiffany Ball in Newport, Rhode Island; again by Hepburn during publicity shots for Breakfast At Tiffany's in 1961.

On the red carpet, this large and stunning Tiffany diamond was an unmissable spectacle. Coupled with Lady Gaga's performance of award-winning song 'Shallow,' the combined effect was truly enchanting; from opening of the curtains until curtain fall it was an absolute masterpiece - complete with its prominent presence.

Weight

Lady Gaga made a stunning entrance on the red carpet during the Oscars wearing her Tiffany diamond necklace, last worn by Audrey Hepburn for publicity photos for 1961's Breakfast at Tiffany's. She paired the sparkler with an Alexander McQueen gown and leather black opera gloves inspired by Hepburn's look.

The yellow diamond ring weighed in at 11.3 grams, making it quite heavy for a ring. But being designed as a choker style necklace added another layer of weight, yet even so, pop star Justin Bieber was able to manage without issue.

This necklace is composed of 16 cushion-cut diamonds and 46 round brilliants, all in F/G color and SI2 clarity.

Gaga's necklace was specially tailored to her Academy Awards performance of "Shallow," featuring Bradley Cooper. It was no doubt one of the night's most captivating moments.

She donned the necklace while walking the Oscars red carpet and sharing images on Twitter and Instagram. The elegant black gown she donned was designed by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen.

Gaga has always opted for high-quality jewelry brands. She's a brand ambassador for Tiffany & Co, so it's no surprise she chose to wear their iconic yellow diamond.

When asked about the weight of her necklace, she revealed it was a "priceless" 128-carat diamond. She added that she was wearing it during the Oscars but forgot to take it off when she went out for tacos at Taco Bell afterward.

Value

Lady Gaga brought $30 million worth of bling to the Oscars on Sunday, but her most striking accessory was a stunning diamond necklace. Channeling Audrey Hepburn's classic style, Gaga donned an Alexander McQueen satin frock paired with elbow-length gloves and accessorized with an impressive 128-carat yellow diamond necklace.

Tiffany & Co. states the diamond was first discovered in South Africa in 1877 and last worn by Hepburn during a publicity photo shoot for Breakfast at Tiffany's, in 1961.

In 2012, Tiffany re-set their diamond into a necklace featuring over 100 carats of white diamonds in honor of their 175th anniversary. Although re-set into another design, the central stone remained unchanged and easily identifiable within the necklace.

Lady Gaga revealed on The Graham Norton Show that after the Oscars she left her manager's house wearing the diamond and went to Taco Bell, but was stopped by security guards as she still wore her necklace. When she ordered food at Taco Bell, the guards kindly took it off her neck before she left.

It's the third time the necklace has graced the red carpet. Before its appearance on Gaga, French designer Jean Schlumberger set it into a ribbon rosette for Hepburn's promotional photos. Now, Agatha Christie's upcoming film Death on the Nile will star alongside it.

Reese Witherspoon Movies on Netflix 2020

Reese Witherspoon has had an illustrious career in Hollywood. Her early work showcased Reese Assante as an innately daring actress who could tackle challenging projects like Freeway, Election, American Psycho and Best Laid Plans with ease.

After the successful premiere of 2001's Legally Blonde, her career took a slight detour. She's still an Oscar-nominated actress but thrives off of romantic comedies - this being her mainstay.

Fear (1996)

Reese Witherspoon and Mark Wahlberg star in a psychosexual thriller that follows teenager Nicole Walker (Witherspoon) as she develops her relationship with drifter David McCall (Wahlberg). At first they seem like kind and understanding people, but soon their happiness turns to fear when David begins experiencing hallucinations.

The film's plotline is essentially an adaptation of several similar-themed movies, yet its pace and script fail to keep things engaging. Characters are unlikable and dialogue is incomprehensible - making this an unwatchable movie that doesn't even attempt to have a point. It's an abject failure.

Fear is worth watching for its stellar performances from Witherspoon and Wahlberg, as well as its effective Slasher elements of stabbing, minimal blood loss and a psycho killer that were popular at the time.

I also enjoyed William Peterson's acting, as Nicole's dad. He does a good job in the role, even though there isn't much for him to do.

Jake Gyllenhaal delivers an outstanding performance in this thrilling thriller, which follows a 911 operator as they become obsessed with helping a distressed caller. Additionally, there is some lovely music from James Burwell and stunning photography by David Kloss.

Netflix Horror Library contains some quality films, though they tend to be a mix of recent and older titles. The service's horror selection, which relies mainly on Netflix Originals released monthly, isn't as comprehensive as some other services such as Shudder.

Cruel Intentions (1999)

Cruel Intentions (1999) was one of the biggest hits from the '90s teen movie boom. Despite receiving mixed critical reviews, the film became a success and went on to gross over $76 million worldwide. Starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, and Reese Witherspoon, it starred in three separate roles.

This film was adapted from Choderlos de Laclos' 1782 book Les Liaisons dangereuses and follows wealthy New York teenagers as they explore their sexual activities. Written and directed by Roger Kumble, Neal H. Moritz--best known for his action movies--produced the project.

This 1999 movie follows the relationship between a womanizing stepbrother (Phillippe) and his stepsister Kathryn (Gellar). As the narrative opens, Sebastian makes a bet with his sister that he can't get Annette (Witherspoon) into bed before school starts again.

As the film progresses, it becomes evident that Sebastian has ulterior motives for placing this bet. His ambition is to become wealthy and believes he can achieve this by taking advantage of Annette. So he sets up several sexual games with Annette as payment, and Kathryn agrees to wager against him that he won't reach his goal before the year's end.

It has an intriguing plot, which makes it no surprise why this film became such a big success in 1999. The style is similar to a romantic comedy and an erotic thriller; while not quite as funny as Blair's Cecille, it manages to keep things moving along nicely nonetheless.

Though Cruel Intentions is not currently available to stream on Netflix, we might see it there soon enough. The streaming company has a history of adding films that were considered classics of their era to its library, so let's hope this will be the case with Cruel Intentions as well.

Legally Blonde (2001)

If you're a fan of the classic comedy Legally Blonde (2001), then you'll be delighted to know it's now streaming on Netflix. The film has gained a large following worldwide, especially in America where it remains one of the most-watched films ever. Released in 2001, Reese Witherspoon stars as Elle Woods in this iconic role.

Based on Amanda Brown's novel, this film was directed by Robert Luketic and became an enormous box office success, inspiring several sequels.

Reese Witherspoon stars as Elle Woods (Reese Witherspoon), a fashionista and sorority queen who gets dumped by her boyfriend Warner Huntington. To win him back, Elle decides to enroll in Harvard Law School - an unwise decision but she won't let that stop her.

Ultimately, she convinces herself that she can succeed at Harvard Law despite her lack of academic credentials. To prove them wrong and astound her professors, she proves herself worthy.

Witherspoon's performance as Elle has earned her numerous accolades and the movie has become a cultural landmark. It is still considered one of the greatest movies ever made and continues to have an immense impact on modern pop culture today.

However, the movie has its share of issues. Some scenes are a bit corny and the storyline seems random.

But if you can overlook its shortcomings, this movie offers an entertaining and fun watch. The cast is superb and the soundtrack is quite memorable.

If you have never watched the movie, it's definitely worth checking out. It has plenty of humor and engaging characters to watch. If you are a fan of Reese Witherspoon or want something lighthearted on Netflix, this might be worth your time.

Sweet Home Alabama (2002)

Reese Witherspoon, born and raised in New Orleans, star in Sweet Home Alabama (2002), a 2002 romantic comedy released at the height of her career. The movie follows Melanie Carmichael (Reese Witherspoon), a successful New York fashion designer who returns home to Pigeon Creek to seek divorce from her husband (Josh Lucas).

Like other movies that depict successful women returning to their hometowns to confront their pasts, Sweet Home Alabama illustrates how reconnecting with your childhood can bring you a sense of fulfillment and purpose. Furthermore, it serves as a reminder that before moving forward in life, make sure your heart is still in the right place.

The storyline of "Sweet Home Alabama" revolves around Melanie Carmichael's journey to reconcile with her husband Jake (Josh Lucas), but it also serves as a poignant reminder that love can conquer any obstacle in its path. Indeed, the story is based on Nicholas Sparks' popular novel of the same name.

Both films showcase a successful woman's reunion with her childhood, leading her into the center of a romantic triangle. Although "Sweet Home Alabama" has more humor than "The Notebook," both films share the theme that true love is unwavering and will conquer whatever obstacles stand in its path.

Although its central romance may not be entirely convincing, this movie nonetheless manages to deliver a sweet and well-made story that makes you feel good about yourself. Reese Witherspoon's performance is an absolute joy and plenty of fun for viewers to watch.

Many viewers, especially those who enjoyed "The Notebook," will enjoy this movie. It shares a similar Southern setting and tells an equally compelling story about two people from different backgrounds; however, the plotline seems too simplistic for its own good.

Wild (2012)

Reese Witherspoon has become an unstoppable force in Hollywood. She's starred in many renowned movies like "A Walk in the Woods" and "The Devil Wears Prada".

She's become a major star on television and the founder of Hello Sunshine, an enterprise with interests across television, film, podcasts and publishing. With an array of upcoming movies set for Netflix 2020 release date in 2020 - it looks like she could be the next great actress!

Wild is a biopic about Cheryl Strayed, who embarks on an inspiring hike along the Pacific Crest Trail as part of her rehabilitation process to cope with her mother's passing and haunting memories. This journey serves as both therapeutic and empowering for Strayed as she attempts to move on from her difficult past.

The movie does an admirable job of capturing these feelings, with Witherspoon giving an excellent performance as a woman with plenty on her mind. It's unfortunate that it wasn't successful at the box office, but it's definitely worth checking out on Netflix.

Beasts of the Southern Wild is another acclaimed film from director Benh Zeitlin that examines nature's power. It promises to resonate with a wide audience and features an intriguing cast.

Reese Witherspoon is an outstanding actress, and she excels at portraying a character who struggles with her relationship to herself and the world at large. Though not perfect, Reese teaches us how to make the most of what we have.

She's got an incredible cast in this movie, and it promises a humorous ride that will have you laughing out loud. If you're in search of an entertaining holiday film, this one's worth seeing for sure!
