As a part of the Academy's commitment to evolving hand-in-hand with its membership, BMC will serve as a space for members to speak openly about new and emerging opportunities in Black music across all genres and identify ways to drive more representation.

The BMC's Honorary Chairs include three EGOT recipients (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony): John Legend, Jimmy Jam and Quincy Jones. The six BMC Honorary Chairs also work with the Academy's Diversity, Equity & Inclusion team to elevate and expand the mission of the BMC.

These leaders will meet regularly and initiate programs that encourage participation and accelerate Black membership in the Recording Academy.

For the Black Music Collective's second annual event, a pre-Grammy ceremony in Los Angeles, several Black music legends were honored, including Dr. Dre, Missy Elliott and Lil Wayne, along with music executive Sylvia Rhone. The four artists received the renamed Global Impact Award from the Recording Academy and Black Music Collective, an honor given to music icons who are making a significant difference in the music industry.

At the end of her speech, a teary-eyed Elliot delivered a heartfelt message to her audience. She said that "I've been a little bit overlooked in my life" and added that it was important to recognize Black music creators because they have had an enormous impact on the industry.

The GRAMMY Foundation

Where Does Recording Go in Zoom 2023?

If you're a Zoom user, you probably have a few questions about where your recordings go. For starters, if you're on a free plan, local recordings save to your computer desktop.

If you're on a paid Zoom plan, however, your recordings get stored in the cloud. On Pro and Business plans, you get 1GB of cloud recording storage space per license.

How to Record a Meeting

When you start a Zoom meeting, you have the option to record it on your local computer or in the cloud. This is useful for sharing the meeting with students or colleagues who aren't able to join the meeting. The recording can also be used to record a presentation or webinar.

When recording on your PC, the meeting video and audio is stored locally for both paid subscribers and free users. The default location for local recordings is the Documents folder (Windows) or Finder (Mac), although Zoom clients allow you to change this to another folder on your system.

Zoom allows you to save chat messages, closed caption files, and more in your local recordings. You can also set recording preferences for the duration of a meeting, record in the same resolution as the meeting's active speaker view, and record audio separately for each participant.

How to Change the Recording Location

Whether you are recording a Zoom meeting for fun, to save a family lockdown moment or to check your lecture notes, it's important to know where your recordings go. For the majority of users, your recordings are stored in your local storage folder on your computer if you use a free Zoom account or on the cloud if you have a paid plan.

However, there are times when you may need to change the location where your recordings are saved – perhaps for legal or contractual reasons. You can do this from the Zoom desktop client or from the Zoom web portal.

When you start a Zoom meeting, you will be asked if you want to record it on your computer or the cloud. If you select the cloud option, your recordings will be automatically uploaded to the cloud. This can cause a lot of storage space issues if your internet connection is slow or you have a large number of participants in your meeting.

If you prefer to have your recordings saved locally on your computer, you can change the default recording location for Zoom meetings in the Zoom desktop client settings. This can be done by signing in to the Zoom desktop client and clicking your profile picture then clicking Settings.

The Zoom web portal allows you to search your cloud recordings by Meeting ID or topic (e.g. meeting name). There is no limit to the date you can specify and you can also search for text in audio transcripts.

You can also find and share your meeting files by uploading them to a third-party cloud storage service or video sharing platform such as Google Drive or Vimeo. These services allow you to create a link that your audience can click on to access the video. You can then send this link to anyone you wish to share it with. If you choose to upload your recording to a third-party cloud service, make sure that the privacy settings are set so that only those with the link can access it.

How to View a Recording

In Zoom 2023, you can view a recording by clicking the topic or display name of a cloud recording. You can also find a list of all cloud recordings and search them by date range, host, meeting ID or topic.

After you record a meeting, your video, audio and chat files are saved to the Zoom cloud. You can view these files on the Zoom web portal, mobile app or desktop software. You can also share them with other users.

Another option is to remove the video and audio from the Zoom cloud and save it locally on your computer. This can be useful if you want to make sure that all of the recorded material is preserved on your device for future use, or if your team has security policies against hosting company recordings in the cloud.
