Joe Pantoliano...will be honored at this year’s Carney Awards. Named in honor of the late Art Carney, the Carney Awards were launched ... to celebrate Hollywood’s leading character actors.Joe Pantoliano is lying across his bed at home in Connecticut with a little black shih apso puppy named Scout happily nuzzling at his chest. He’s spent the last two decades living in the countryside 45 miles north of the George Washington bridge, but in his mind he’s back in the hardscrabble New Jersey of his youth. “Growing up, I was always led to feel shame about being the son of an immigrant, like I wasn’t really American,” remembers the 69-year-old.

Joe Pantoliano gained limelight for his performance in ‘Risky Business,’ where he played Guido the Killer Pimp. He followed this with a villainous role in teen classic ‘The Goonies,’ where he starred as Francis Fratelli. Often seen playing shady characters, Joe Pantoliano is renowned for portraying Ralph Cifaretto in crime drama television series ‘The Sopranos,’ for which earned a ‘Primetime Emmy Award.’ Some of his other popular roles include, Captain Conrad Howard in ‘Bad Boys,’ the action comedy film, Eddie Moscone in buddy cop action comedy film ‘Midnight Run,’ Teddy in neo-noir psychological thriller film ‘Memento,’ Norby in ‘Baby’s Day Out,’ and Cosmo Renfro in ‘The Fugitive,’ the action thriller film and it’s sequels. He has also appeared in a number of television shows and series, including ‘SpongeBob SquarePants,’ ‘The Simpsons,’ ‘Godzilla: The Series,’ ‘Simon & Simon,’ ‘Hart to Hart,’ etc. (Source: www.throughtheclutter.com)

Pantoliano’s Emmy win in 2003 was a high-water mark in his career. His friend Michael Chiklis presented him with the award, and Pantoliano choked up with emotion as he spoke, thanking his stepfather, Florio Isabella, the man who had encouraged him to pursue acting.
