Legally

Writing partner is Alanna Ubach. They met at the Legally Blonde (2001) auditions in 2000 and have been best friends ever since, onscreen and off. Jessica had already been cast as Margot and was asked to read with several actresses vying for the part of Serena. When Alanna walked into the audition, she pulled Jessica aside and said dryly, "Kid, help me out here. I've gotta make rent." Jessica thought Alanna was so funny that instead of reading with her from behind a table, she said, "Okay--I'll stand up and do the scene with you. Just mirror all of my movements." They snuck off to the bathroom and planned synchronized looks, gestures and double takes. Alanna pulled it off so well that the director thought they already knew each other--and Margot and Serena were born.
