Dana Elaine Owens, known as Queen Latifah, is an iconic American singer, songwriter, TV personality, and actress. She was born and grew up in New Jersey, and she has always been tall (thus played basketball) and very artistic (with incredible love to singing). Being very interested in various cultures of the world, she selected the name Latifah which means "delicate" in Arabic. In the late 1980s she started her musical career in hip-hop and beat bop styles, with later rather switch to rap, then gospels, and more traditional singing. In total, she released 7 studio albums, and for her musical career, she has won a Grammy, an Emmy, and a Golden Globe awards, which is a kind of a record. During the 1990s, Latifah was a star of FOX TV series Living Single, combining this work with taking part in cinema projects Juice, Jungle Forever, Set It Off (with Jada Pinkett), as well as working at TV as The Queen Latifah Show host. In the 2000s she took part in a variety of movies, starting from drama and ending up with comedies like Chicago (with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Richard Gere), Bringing Down the House (with Steve Martin), Scary Movie 3, Taxi (with Jimmy Fallon and Gisele Bündchen), Beauty Shop, Hairspray (with John Travolta and Michelle Pfeiffer), Joyful Noise, What Happens in Vegas (with Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz), Miracles from Heavens (with Jennifer Garner), and many more. Queen Latifah used to train in kickboxing, and she genuinely loves singing on stage and in studios. She has never been married. (Source: www.myagecalculator.com)
