A Saweetie Mom

Between 2015 and 2016, Saweetie’s Snapchat following exploded from a handful of fans to a total of 19 million followers. Here’s the only way I know how to answer when asked, “How did you get so rich on Snapchat?

Mom

“My mom was 17 when she had me, so my parents were always working, and my grandma took care of me. My mom and my dad both come from big families, too – nine of my dad’s side and seven on my mom’s side. We didn’t grow up rich, or at least I know I didn’t, which is why it feels good to make all this money, because I’ve never been able to just buy whatever I wanted to.”

DAD

A case in point is that her granddad played football for the San Francisco 49ers and her dad, Johnny Harper, played for San Jose State. She actually wanted to play football as well but was apparently discouraged by her mom, Trinidad Valentin, who was once a video hottie. Saweetie’s revealed her mom’s previous line of work in her newest episode of her The Icy Life YouTube series. The rapper was captured spending some time at the poolside when her mom approached her with a question about her attire. “Where’s the rest of your outfit?” Trinidad questioned.

NEW

Saweetie released her debut extended play, High Maintenance, in 2018. Her second EP, Icy, was released in March 2019 and spawned the top-40 single "My Type". Her debut album, Pretty Bitch Music, is scheduled to be released in late December 2021 and was preceded by the singles "Tap In" and "Best Friend" (featuring Doja Cat), both of which reached the top 20 on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2021, she received two nominations for the 64th Annual Grammy Awards including one for Best New Artist.
