A Khadeen Ellis

Khadeen Ellis:

Khadeen Ellis has never been afraid to break tradition. Growing up in suburban Chicago, Ellis was fascinated with the workings of the law, and in college he became an avowed criminal defense lawyer. But law school didn’t make a difference.

When I followup over email to ask the couple what’s next, they tell me they’re looking forward to diving into their first book together, and are eager to take Dead Ass With Khadeen & Devale back on the road for a live tour. As a follow-up to Devale’s best selling children’s book, The Ellises & Time Machine: Why We Have To Say “Black Lives Matter,” Khadeen is releasing an activity book for children this summer, and Devale will be back on the screen June 9 for Season 3 of Tyler Perry’s Sistas. The couple also has a podcast which they call “Dead Ass”. They share stories, opinions and give advice on love, marriage, and business. The podcast hit No. 5 on the Apple charts on the first day it was launched and ever since, it has remained top 10 and has sold out 3 live shows, and has had over 10 million downloads.

Before they were married, her husband had financial issues. He was cut from the NFL, he was living paycheck to paycheck, and he wasn’t sure how that happened. He never thought about finances to that point, and now he doesn’t make that mistake. He’s got it down to a science, and he does not mess with that in the least. They work together to make their finances a priority. (Source: tvovermind.com)

He went undrafted in the 2006 NFL Draft, but was signed as a free agent after participating in the rookie mini-camp as a tryout player. He was signed to the Lions eight man practice squad on September 3, 2006. Although he played in the season opener against the Seattle Seahawks on the September 9th, he was waived from the active roster on September 11, and shortly afterwards re-signed with the practice squad. As of October 15, he had been upgraded to the active roster and made his first start against the Buffalo Bills. Ellis was waived by the Lions during final cuts on August 30, 2008.LOVE, SEX, MARRIAGE and everything in between! Each week Khadeen and Devale Ellis spread love the Brooklyn way. Listen in as they reveal personal truths, share opinions and inspire us to level up in our own lives by giving some advice — but no matter what you hear they will always keep it 100. DEAD ASS!

Khadeen: It’s been difficult at times to get that separation because people see us all the time as the Ellises because of the podcast and YouTube channel. Devale recently did a photo shoot and I said, “Look at you, looking like a whole snack and a meal...” Some people started following us when I just had Kairo and I was pregnant with Kaz, so seeing me in a swimsuit, they’re like, “Oh, that’s a bit much.” No, this is Khadeen. Khadeen can be all the things. You were just introduced to Khadeen the mom. So sometimes it’s hard for people to separate us from family life, but we try to be intentional with how we create our content moving forward. (Source: www.romper.com)
