FutureStarrDouble Major on Resume
Writing a resume for a job at a non-profit or on behalf of your non-profit requires a completely different set of considerations than writing a resume for a career in industry or to get a graduate position. With that in mind, the most important piece of advice when crafting a resume for a job at a non-profit is to describe what drives you and what motivates you to do the difficult work you're doing.
If you completed a double major in college, it can be an effective element to include in your resume. For one, your double major shows employers that you are dedicated to learning which lets them know that you are coachable, which is a highly desirable trait. Secondly, a double major that relates to the career field you are entering highlights the extensive training and qualifications you have that make you the best fit for the job.
After your degrees and majors, include any additional certifications, coursework or awards you completed that relate to the job. For example, achievements like specialty certifications, complex coursework, performance awards and other credentials and accolades highlight your ability to prioritize and achieve your goals. Employers generally want to see that their employees are motivated and committed to continuous development in their careers, and this showcases your dedication to growth and improvement.
