Calculating feet and inches might seem complicated, but adding and subtracting measurements is actually really easy if you follow a few simple steps. While it’s easy to add or subtract feet and inches using a measurement calculator like the one above, if you follow a few basic steps, you can do it yourself!

Why do we need the feet and inches calculators? Multiplying, dividing, subtracting, and adding in feet and inches might be quite troublesome - we all know it well enough. Converting decimals to fractions and vice versa is another obstacle to overcome. But don't you worry - our wonderful FIS (Foot-Inch-Sixteenth) calculator is here to help! 👣 (Source: www.omnicalculator.com)

### Divide

To calculate an area in square feet, you will need measurements for the width and length (for a square shape) or the diameter (for a circular area). It may be that the area you're looking to measure is a strange shape (such as a room or garden). In this case, dividing it up into smaller parts and doing individual calculations is a good way to calculate the overall square footage.

Should you find yourself needing to calculate an area of square feet in an 'L' shape, consider dividing the shape up into rectangular sections and treating them as separate areas for calculation (adding them together at the end). ### Multiply

5b: To convert the fractional portion of the decimal inches result to tape measure fractional inches, you multiply the fractional decimal inches by the denominator portion of the rounding value you selected (16 if rounding to 1/16), and then round that result to the nearest whole number which then becomes the numerator of the fractional inch (if the rounded result is 11, and rounding to nearest 16th, the fraction tape measure inch would be 11/16).

To convert the fractional portion of the decimal feet and inches result (0.125) to tape measure fractional inches, you multiply the 0.125 by the denominator portion of the rounding value you selected (1/16), and then round that result (0.125 x 16 = 2) to the nearest whole number (2). This becomes the numerator of the fractional inch (2/16). (Source: www.free-online-calculator-use.com)
