Most people only pay themselves 9% of their annual income, according to data collected by Self-Employed America. This is what a lot of people keep in mind when considering how much money they'll have to invest in their retirement.

### Decimal

Remember that in decimal multiplication, you multiply as if there were no decimal points, and the answer will have as many “decimal digits” to the right of the decimal point as the total number of decimal digits of all of the factors. So when you multiply 0.7 × 80, think of multiplying 7 × 80 = 560. Since 0.7 has one decimal digit, and 80 has none, the answer has one decimal digit: 56.0 Thus, 0.7 × 80 = 56.

Grammar and style guides often differ as to how percentages are to be written. For instance, it is commonly suggested that the word percent (or per cent) be spelled out in all texts, as in "1 percent" and not "1%". Other guides prefer the word to be written out in humanistic texts, but the symbol to be used in scientific texts. Most guides agree that they always be written with a numeral, as in "5 percent" and not "five percent", the only exception being at the beginning of a sentence: "Ten percent of all writers love style guides." Decimals are also to be used instead of fractions, as in "3.5 percent of the gain" and not " (Source: en.wikipedia.org)

### Use

For example, you just received the results of a math test, and you got 45 right answers out of a total of 52 questions. Your friend gets a back a science test, and she got 39 questions right out of 44. Who did better? Scroll up to percentage calculator 1 to find the answer. And now you know what calculator I used to normalize the above 12:15 ratio to a percent.

To use it, first understand the ratio. For example, if you earn \$1,000 a week and you have \$183 taken out of your pay, and you want to know what percentage of your pay gets deducted from the total then the ratio you want to convert is 183:1000. Enter 183 as "This number" and the 1,000 as the "is what percent of this number." The result is 18.3%. Or you have 18.3% deducted from your pay. (Source:
