KEEP THE DALLAS OBSERVER FREE... Since we started the Dallas Observer, it has been defined as the free, independent voice of Dallas, and we'd like to keep it that way. With local media under siege, it's more important than ever for us to rally support behind funding our local journalism. You can help by participating in our "I Support" program, allowing us to keep offering readers access to our incisive coverage of local news, food and culture with no paywalls.

Turkey Leg Hut’s success has spawned local inspirations, like when Smokey John’s Bar-B-Que sold turkey legs stuffed with dressing at Thanksgiving last year. (They were delicious.) A restaurant that opened in October in Dallas, Turkey DAM, also sells stuffed turkey legs. Another popular Dallas restaurant, Turkey Leg Paradise, has found success with this guarantee: “if it don’t fall of the bone, it’s free.” (Source: www.dallasnews.com)

At the Turkey Leg Hut, we do our best to accommodate all of our guests. It’s unfortunate that we even have to address this or implement a dress code but we are a family-friendly restaurant that serves all ages from children to adults. Unfortunately, we have received complaints from our patrons regarding other guest’s wardrobe choices. In order to try and ensure all guests are comfortable while visiting us, we were forced to put a new dress code policy in place.

"I waited 13hrs!! Could not get out of line to leave. Arrived at 11am and left at 1245am. Never again. They ran out of food right after me and told hundreds of people to try again. They still couldn’t leave right away because it was so many cars. Vehicles got towed from dead batteries, car issues, and cars running out of gas from the lines. I came alone and couldn’t go to the bathroom or eat for the entire 13hrs. A home girl asked for a ticket proving she waited 13hrs so she could come back today or tomorrow and skip the line they said no and to get there early. Everyone was asking for the owners and they had left supposedly. NOT OK" (Source: www.dallasobserver.com)

Others also reported that once in the line there was no way out, so they were stuck. To rub salt in that wound, Turkey Leg Hut ran out of food around 3 a.m. and those who were in the line were told to try again tomorrow. As mentioned above, when asked for vouchers for their 12-plus hours of service they’d already put in, organizers were not able to accommodate that request. (Source: www.dallasobserver.com)
