Training Overview: The franchisor requires three or, at the franchisee’s option, four managers to attend the management training program. The franchisor offers the management training program continuously throughout the year and training usually begins 12 to 18 weeks before the opening of the Franchised Restaurant. At least three of the managers, including the designated general manager, must successfully complete to the franchisor’s satisfaction the management training program before the opening of the Franchised Restaurant. Trainees will be instructed in the full range of functions involved in the operation of a Fuddruckers Restaurant, including instruction in the operation of all equipment, personnel and public relations, food preparation and accounting techniques. The management training program lasts eight weeks and takes place in a Fuddruckers Restaurant designated by the franchisor. The management training program, which is conducted by Certified Training General Managers in Certified Training Restaurants, focuses on mastering all skill positions within a Fuddruckers Restaurant as well as basic orientation to management skills, including opening and closing routines, administrative management scheduling, ordering inventory, receiving and storage. In addition to the management training program, additional training programs involving new course material may be offered periodically, if and when new material developments are introduced in the Fuddruckers system.

Territory Granted: Franchisees will not receive an exclusive territory under the Franchise Agreement. Franchisees may face competition from other franchisees, from outlets that the franchisor owns, or from other channels of distribution or competitive brands that the franchisor controls. Under the Franchise Agreement, franchisees will be licensed to develop and operate a Franchised Restaurant at a designated location. If franchisees comply with the Franchise Agreement, the franchisor will not operate, or license others to operate, a Fuddruckers Restaurant in an agreed-upon geographic area (Protected Area) during the initial term of the Franchise Agreement; however, this restriction will not apply to a Fuddruckers restaurant in operation or under lease or construction or other commitment to open in the Protected Area as of the date of the Franchise Agreement. The Protected Area may differ for different Franchised Restaurants based on various demographic and geographic factors. In each instance, the Protected Area will be agreed upon by the parties. According to Restaurant Business, Luby's Inc. announced an $18.5 million buyout deal with Black Titan Franchise Systems, which already owns and operates 13 Fuddruckers units and plans to acquire two more. The new owner will also acquire master worldwide ownership of the Fuddruckers brand, which will allow it to grow the franchise business both domestically and internationally. Fuddruckers currently has 92 locations across the United States, and chances are good most of those locations will remain open for business.

The Fuddruckers concept is to offer large hamburgers in which the meat is ground on-site and buns are baked on the premises. As of 2019, Fuddruckers had 49 company-operated restaurants and 107 franchises across the United States and around the world. The company headquarters is in Houston, Texas. On September 8, 2020, Fuddruckers owner Luby's, Inc. announced they plan to liquidate existing assets, including Fuddruckers' assets, distributing the proceeds to investors after the proposed sale of the chains.

Today Fuddruckers has 62 company-operated restaurants and supports a franchise network of 117 locations and growing. These Fuddruckers restaurants are found coast to coast spanning 34 states, and include Puerto Rico and Canada. And recently, with a joint venture partner, we announced expansion south of the border, in Mexico, setting the stage for bringing the World's Greatest Hamburgers® to more communities both domestically and internationally. In August 2014, Fuddruckers opened the first of its new stores called Fuddruckers Deluxe in Newport News, Virginia, a full-service sit down restaurant serving traditional and new menu items, with a wait staff, full bar and multiple TVs, although it does not offer different size burgers or a "produce and fixings bar" like its traditional restaurants. Fuddrucker's slogan is "The World's Greatest Hamburgers," a phrase structure generally reserved for Grandpa's mugs. It's an idiom meant to express "I know you're not really the world's greatest [grandpa/boss/burger], but you're mine, and you do a halfway decent job at that."
