In addition to basketball talents he was an academic standout who excelled at earning high grades while on campus. Brown has continued his stellar defense this season. Averaging 23.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game, in addition to his defensive excellence he has demonstrated superior three-point shooting skills with over 40% from beyond the arc shooting percentages. Brown has proved himself as an exceptional point guard for the Celtics this season, even though his ball-handling has occasionally been questionable. He has made significant contributions to their success this year by scoring key buckets both individually and through transition. Brown may possess excellent defense, yet still needs to address his weaknesses. Overhelping is a habit he needs to break; also his long midrange shooting needs improvement so as to create more open looks. Brown has an excellent chance at earning an All-Star nod this year, being the Celtics' premier defender this season and appearing in all 16 games with them - although four games back from leading their conference only four games behind Bucks! Should he be chosen, he will become first Celtics player since 2010 when their loss to Golden State Warriors resulted in six All-Star selections. 2. He is a good shooter As Brown entered the NBA, many expected him to be an above-average shooter. Yet this season he's exceeded everyone's expectations by shooting 40.2 percent from 3-point range - an improvement on last season. Furthermore, his mid-range shooting has vastly improved along with his overall shooting abilities. When on, he's an excellent scorer. His most efficient method for scoring is driving to the basket; due to being both quick and powerful, this makes him difficult for opposing defenses to stop him. Brown has proven his scoring prowess while being a solid off-dribble shooter as well. He can hit tough shots from midrange range, while simultaneously developing long range jumpers; one reason the Celtics thrive with him on the floor. Brown ensured his inclusion in this year's All-Star Game after being overlooked last season, being selected as a reserve along with Boston Celtics teammate Jayson Tatum as Team LeBron won 170-150 over Team Durant in their respective contest. Brown has earned himself an All-Star spot due to his outstanding play this season. One of the league's premier shooters, his play since the All-Star break has been truly outstanding. By taking less threes and focusing more on getting closer to the basket he has become an even greater player. The Celtics have had an outstanding season so far and look poised to make an exciting run in the playoffs. Brown is an effective scorer, but has yet to reach the level of elite shooters like JJ Redick or Ray Allen. But Cal-Berkeley product Brown has become a reliable long-range marksman who also can slash off the ball as an effective slasher off the ball; additionally his skills make him a threat on ISO plays. Brown boasts a powerful left hand and is adept at shooting with his back to the basket, off-balance or with his left foot in an off-balance position. Currently ranked third best three-point shooter in the league behind Hamidou Diallo and Ben Simmons, Brown is also a solid defender with solid overall defensive awareness. A reliable scorer for the Celtics, Jaylen has proven that he can be an asset on any squad he joins. As a rookie, Brown impressed many with his ability to make the right play at just the right moment. He became their most consistent scorer and helped lead them all the way to the Eastern Conference Finals. Following an initial disappointing start to this season, he has regained his role as leader scorer, becoming an integral component in their run for championship glory. Brown should make more strategic shots and stop trying to take too many upon himself in order to become more efficient on offense and help his team win games. Doing this will allow him to become more effective offensively and help lead them toward victory. 4. He is a good teammate Jaylen Brown is an ideal teammate because he never lets his teammates down, always being there to support them both on and off the court, giving back to the community, playing great basketball himself and providing leadership to younger teammates. In fact, he could end up as an All-Star this year or be nominated for other awards as well. At 26 years old, this young player has had an exemplary career at Boston and played an instrumental part in its turnaround this year. Jaylen Brown is an outstanding teammate off of the court, not afraid to express his opinions freely and publicly on social issues affecting young people. Additionally, he founded an NBA Foundation dedicated to diversity. Brown recently made some controversial statements in interviews with The New York Times and The Ringer that caused much debate regarding his hometown and team - leading some to speculate about whether or not he will remain with Boston long term. But Brown is confident he will stay put. On Sunday night, Team Giannis defeated Team LeBron in an exciting and close contest that Brown played a vital role in winning.
