How many steps in 10 a mile

# How many steps in a mile

It's a common cliché that you can't judge a book by its cover. However, for this last step, people often rely on the cover to ensure that they're buying the right book for them. But is there really only one step in a mile? Better yet, is there really only one step in a mile?Wearing a pedometer or fitness tracker is an easy way to track your steps each day. Start by wearing the pedometer every day for one week. Put it on when you get up in the morning and wear it until bedtime. Record your daily steps in a log or notebook. By the end of the week you will know your average daily steps. You might be surprised how many, or how few, steps you get in each day.A reasonable goal is to increase average daily steps each week by 500 per day until you can easily average 10,000 per day. Example: If you currently average 3000 steps each day, your goal for week one is 3500 each day. Your goal week two is 4000 each day. Continue to increase each week and you should be averaging 10,000 steps by the end of 14 weeks.

## Mile

erage 1,000 to 3,000 steps a day. For these people adding steps has many health benefits. We can, of course, work out a very generalised figure based upon the 'average' calculation for steps to miles - it is said that the average human takes around 2,000 steps to walk a mile. However, this won't be terribly accurate, because calculating an accurate figure for the number of steps you take to walk or run a mile requires you to take into account for a number of different factors, including your gender, height, weight and walking/running pace. As a very crude example, a person of short stature will take many more steps to walk a mile than a 7ft tall giant.

Our calculators, and the chart below, reference data from a 2008 research study of one-mile step counts at walking and running speeds. The study concentrated on the number of steps people took at varying speeds of walking and running. It should be noted that all those who took part in the study were regarded as being of 'normal weight'. , which equates to about 1.5–2 miles. As doctors generally consider fewer than 5,000 steps per day to be sedentary, this means that many people in the U.S. are not getting as many steps as they should to benefit their health.
