During his career as a Pittsburgh Central Catholic football player, Damar Hamlin received donations totalling hundreds of thousands of dollars. Now, he is getting some help for his recovery. After he collapsed while playing, he was rushed to the hospital where he was given CPR and treated.
Damar Hamlin is a former football player who played at both Central Catholic and Pitt. In fact, he was a three-year starter on the defensive backfield, earning all-conference and All-ACC honors in his junior and senior seasons. He was also selected to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl all-star game and the Big 33 Football Classic.
Damar is a McKees Rocks native. The teen grew up in a hardscrabble town a short distance from the Ohio River. Mario and Nina tried to shield Damar from their struggles. They enrolled him in school and paid for some of his tuition with financial aid.
At Central Catholic, he lettered in basketball and track. He was named Class AAAA Defensive Player of the Year and earned honorable mention All-ACC honors in 2018. During his senior year, he recorded 275 tackles, six interceptions and 10 fumble recoveries.
Although the Buffalo Bills drafted him in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, his story didn't quite end there. On Monday night, Hamlin was involved in an accident on the field that left him in critical condition. Several NFL players were stunned by the news, which was relayed to the media by coach Pat Narduzzi. Apparently, Hamlin was given CPR on the field. Several minutes later, he was taken off the field and transported to the hospital.
Fortunately, his health is now a top priority. As such, he has made the decision to play for his home team, the Pitt Panthers. His signing will take place on Wednesday as part of National Signing Day.
A month ago, Hamlin participated in the annual Pro Day at the University of Pittsburgh. During the workout, he ran a 4.59 40-yard dash. But in order to be considered a contender in the backup safety race, he'll have to make it through the final two preseason games.
The Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered a serious injury in Week 17's Monday Night Football matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, and the game was halted about an hour later.
On the field, Hamlin was strapped to a backboard. At the time of his collapse, he was wearing a face mask, but he appeared to adjust it before collapsing. He was administered CPR by team medical personnel, and reportedly received oxygen.
A stretcher came onto the field to treat him. When the ambulance arrived, Hamlin's condition deteriorated. His family was among those who rushed to the stadium to see their son one last time. After a brief prayer, Hamlin was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Teammate Stefon Diggs joined him there.
Upon arriving at the hospital, Hamlin was administered oxygen and intubated. During his treatment, the NFL pushed the game to a later date. Neither team held a formal press conference.
In the NFL, a game of this magnitude suddenly seems irrelevant. But that's not the case with the Chasing M's Foundation, a non-profit organization that organized a toy drive and other activities to raise money for the Bills player. Thanks to the generosity of fans and donors, the charity was able to gather more than 40,000 toys.
For more information on the charity, visit its official website. You can also donate to the foundation by visiting its GoFundMe page. As of this writing, the organization has raised more than $700,000 in donations. It has a matching charity for 2020.
One of the more memorable moments from the game was when quarterbacks Kirk Cousins and Josh Allen took the time to show support for the injured player.
After Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field during the Buffalo Bills game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night, hundreds of thousands of dollars were donated to help him. It's estimated that the donations came from more than 40,000 people. In just an hour, more than $1 million had been raised.
The NFL has said that Hamlin is in critical condition. He has undergone emergency medical treatment, and has received oxygen and an automated external defibrillator. Several other players have been seen in tears.
While he's receiving medical attention, the game between the Bills and the Bengals was suspended. The league announced that they'd postpone the game to a later date.
When Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the football field, he was put on a stretcher and taken off the field. Medical officials administered CPR to him. At one point, he was even intubated.
An ambulance arrived on the field and immediately took Hamlin to a hospital. Both teams were concerned about the injured player's status. Neither team planned a formal press conference.
Fans gathered near the entrance of the emergency room and held candles. They also left messages of support. A GoFundMe account for the Chasing M's Foundation flooded with donations. People from both teams expressed their condolences.
According to ESPN's Booger McFarland, CPR is lifesaving. Some people knew the former Pittsburgh Panther, who was drafted in the sixth round by the Bills in 2021, and sent prayers to the hospital. As a result of the donation, more than a million dollars were raised.
Hamlin is recovering from the collision. His family is praying for him. But right now, his health is the most important thing.
On Monday night, the Buffalo Bills' Damar Hamlin was rushed to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center after collapsing on the field during a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The 24-year-old reportedly received CPR on the field and received oxygen in the ambulance.
After being rushed off the field, the Bills' players gathered around their teammate and prayed for his recovery. Players from both teams also prayed.
ESPN broadcasted the game and showed medical officials administering CPR to Hamlin. It cut to commercials four times as Hamlin received treatment. Several former and current players around the league tweeted their prayers.
Hamlin, who is in his second year with the Bills, is a defensive back. He entered the game with 91 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks.
At the time of the incident, the Bengals were leading 7-3. Both teams had a large contingent of players on the field to watch. When the officials decided to suspend play, the crowd gathered around the area near midfield. They waited for an ambulance to arrive, and a team of EMTs and trainers began treating Hamlin.
According to ESPN, the CPR administered to Hamlin on the field was life-saving. A statement from the NFL on the postponement said Hamlin was in critical condition.
Several hours after the game was suspended, the Chasing M's Foundation Community Toy Drive surpassed its goal. Within an hour, it had received more than $1 million in donations. In total, Hamlin's toy drive had collected more than $800,000.
The game between the Bengals and the Cleveland Browns was also postponed. Neither team planned a formal press conference. But they appeared to be distraught by the news.
The Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals game was postponed Sunday night after Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field during the first quarter. He was taken off the field and transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. However, while he was in the hospital, he received hundreds of thousands of dollars in donations.
First responders did the requisite CPR on the field before sending him to the nearest medical facility. He was given oxygen and an automated external defibrillator to treat his heart condition. Afterwards, his teammates gathered to pray for him and show their support.
After the game was postponed, both teams were seen to be frazzled by the situation. In the end, the game was moved to the next day, but the impact of the game's postponement was felt by both sides.
Aside from the medical marvel of the day, a toy drive in his honor took place. Fans and philanthropists alike donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to the Chasing M's Foundation.
The aforementioned toy drive also saw a number of media outlets make mention of the effort. ESPN's Skip Bayless said it was the "most significant toy drive in the NFL." Meanwhile, a GoFundMe account was set up to help Hamlin's children.
As of this writing, the Chasing M's Foundation has collected a staggering $1,036,979 in donations. Despite this, the organization is still in need of a couple more millions to finish the project. One of the foundation's major goals is to ensure that the toys made it to children. Hopefully, the Chasing M's Foundation is able to get the job done.
Although the Chasing M's Foundation is not the only organization to donate to the cause, the organization does the leg work to ensure that each child gets an adequate amount of presents.
There is a lot of excitement in the NFL after the season with the two most talked about players, Tim Tebow and JJ Watt, both playing a major role in the Washington Redskins' playoff run. But it seems like a lot of the chatter is overshadowed by the news of a young, promising player, Damar Hammerins, falling into a coma in the middle of the first quarter of the team's game against the Atlanta Falcons. Thankfully, though, the CPR that has been administered to him has been successful and he is expected to make a full recovery.
Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed and had to be taken to the hospital after colliding with Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins on Monday Night Football. Both teams were stunned by the incident, and many players were crying. An ambulance arrived and surrounded the injured player on the field, while doctors administered CPR. After the emergency medical crew finished, the game was suspended.

When the Buffalo Bills lost Safety Damar Hamlin to a serious knee injury on December 22, it was a tragic day for the entire team. The team was on their way to a victory in their first game of the season when the player suffered the injury. After the game, Hamlin's family, teammates and coaches rushed to his side to provide support and medical help. Luckily, it didn't take long for him to be able to leave the hospital, but the loss of a key member of the team for an extended period of time has left fans wondering about the future of the Buffalo Bills.
It was a devastating hit when Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field in Week 17 against the Cincinnati Bengals. According to reports, Hamlin collapsed on the field after a hard hit to his chest while making a tackle.
As he fell, Hamlin appeared to have lost consciousness. Medical personnel quickly gathered around him and began administering CPR. The 24-year-old was subsequently taken off the field in an ambulance. He was transferred to University of Cincinnati Medical Center in critical condition.
Both teams were distraught at the injury. Bills head coach Sean McDermott rushed off the field and met with the medical staff, who explained that Damar Hamlin was suffering from a "serious medical situation."
At least a dozen players on both sides were seen crying, motioning to the medical crews to help. Several players knelt down in prayer when they arrived on the scene.
After the incident, the game was suspended. Both teams were sent back to the locker rooms. Officials did not say when the rest of the game would be played.
After the game, a statement from the NFL was released, confirming that the 24-year-old is in a critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Tests are ongoing to determine what exactly caused the injury.
A statement from the NFL also said that an automated external defibrillator was used to revive Hamlin. It was later reported by ESPN that the medical crews gave Hamlin oxygen before placing him in the ambulance.
Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin was in critical condition after collapsing on the field during Monday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals. His injury came after he had a hard hit to his chest while tackling Tee Higgins.
During the first quarter, the Bengals led 7-3. However, they were unable to complete the remainder of the game because of the injury. Once the game was over, officials postponed the contest to a later date.
Players from both teams have since expressed their sympathy and support for Hamlin. Fans have also shown their support by making donations to the Chasing M's Foundation.
Damar Hamlin, a safety for the Buffalo Bills, was injured while playing the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday night. After making a routine tackle, he collapsed on the field and was rushed to an ambulance. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition, according to reports.
The NFL said Hamlin was in critical condition and that the game would be suspended for the night. Players from both teams gathered around the scene of the injury and shared prayers.
ESPN analysts expressed support for Hamlin. It was the first time a player had been in a major injury during an NFL game.
As news of the injury spread, fans of both teams were upset. Some were seen crying.
When the Bills were informed of the incident, they knelt in prayer for Hamlin. Later, teammates Stefon Diggs and Ryan Shazier also went to the hospital, along with Hamlin's mother.
The ambulance arrived on the field and Hamlin was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. At that point, he was given an IV and oxygen. The game was then suspended and the teams returned to their locker rooms.
The NFL said it is investigating the cause of the incident, but there has been no official word on when the game will resume. One analyst suggested that the league call the game.
After the game, ESPN broadcasters discussed the event with an emphasis on the football lingo. In particular, they talked about the "call the game" - that is, the call of the moment.
When the ambulance took Hamlin off the field, he was hooked up to an oxygen tank and an automated external defibrillator (AED). When the medical staff were able to work on him, he was put on a stretcher and taken to the hospital.
The NFL later announced that it would suspend the match. Neither team had announced any timetable for a makeup game, but both teams were expected to return to Buffalo.
The Bills posted a photo of Hamlin on their social media channels and tweeted their support. Tweets from across the league showed their solidarity.
Damar Hamlin, a safety with the Buffalo Bills, suffered a scary injury in the first quarter of the team's Monday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The 24-year-old was seen lying down on the field and was quickly taken to an ambulance for medical attention. He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is in critical condition.
Several players from both teams gathered around the injured player for some time, showing their support. Even star quarterback Josh Allen asked for prayers, and other Bills players were on display crying as well.
While Hamlin was on the ground, his teammates began giving him CPR. However, it was not until he was lifted up that he regained his footing. In fact, it took Hamlin a few seconds to stand up. It appears that he lost consciousness, although he was reportedly wearing an oxygen mask when he was taken to the hospital.
After the incident, the entire Bills' team was on display praying for the young player's recovery. Many of the players kneeled on the field, while others motioned for emergency personnel to arrive.
In the aftermath of the incident, the Bills posted a photo of Hamlin on Twitter, while the rest of the league also tweeted their support. The hashtags 'Hamlin' and 'Toys For Kids' were trending on social media, and donations to the Chasing M's Foundation, a toy drive set up to benefit children, blew past $650,000 by late Monday evening.
Although the medical treatment given to Hamlin was noteworthy, the Bills' game against the Cincinnati Bengals was postponed indefinitely. Not surprisingly, the outcome of the game has important playoff implications, and the NFL's commissioner, Roger Goodell, has issued a statement praising the work of the medical staff.
A few hours after the accident, UC Health in Cincinnati told WXIX that there is no immediate information on the young man's condition. But the hospital did say that Hamlin will receive further medical attention at another location.
There were several other notable feats of modern medicine, such as the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED) on the field and the use of CPR by the medical staff.
Damar Hamlin, a Buffalo Bills defender, collapsed on the field during a Monday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The injury left Hamlin in critical condition.
The team called a temporary suspension of the game. After the play stopped, medical staff rushed onto the field to begin CPR. They administered CPR for several minutes on the injured player.
Damar Hamlin, a former standout player at Pitt, had started 14 games this season, and was the team's leading tackler. He made 63 solo tackles. However, he missed time in 2017 due to injuries.
When the injury happened, players from both teams became distraught. Some fans even called for the game to be cancelled.
A number of Bills players gathered around the injured player to pray for him. He was then removed to an ambulance and driven to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
The team's equipment staff began packing the sideline. While the players waited in the tunnel, the rest of the game was suspended.
There were no media conferences held by the players. However, there was a brief moment of silence in the stadium.
When the players gathered again, they all hugged each other. Then, they knelt down in prayer. Jordon Rooney, the marketing representative for the team, tweeted a message expressing his support for Hamlin.
Several tweets came out from other football teams, including the New England Patriots. Fans also took to social media to offer prayers for Hamlin.
It appears that the NFL is focusing on both the Bills and Hamlin. In fact, Bob Iger, the CEO of ESPN parent The Walt Disney Co., said that "night should be a night of prayer for Damar Hamlin," adding that he was thinking of the Bills.
It is unclear when the game will be resumed. Although the NFL listed Damar Hamlin's condition as critical, doctors are not sure if the player will make it out of the match.
Hamlin's mother, Lisa, was with her son when he was taken to the hospital.
There is no question that downloading is a huge part of how we get information and knowledge these days. This is because our world is fast-paced, and we have access to so much information at the push of a button. The problem is that a lot of people have no idea how to find the best internet speed for downloads, and this can be a big hassle. Here are some tips to help you figure out how to get the best speed for downloads.
If you live in the United States, then you've probably heard about 100 Mbps. It's a fairly fast download speed, but not one you'll likely find suitable for video games or streaming 4K movies.
Most users don't need much more than a speed of 50 Mbps for basic internet browsing. If you have a large household or live in a high-traffic area, you may need a faster plan. You should also keep in mind that a lot of people may be using your broadband during peak traffic times, which could cause slower speeds.
When it comes to streaming 4K videos, you'll need a speed of around 25 Mbps. If you're streaming on a variety of devices, then you'll need more bandwidth. A standard HD movie, for instance, will only require about 2GB of bandwidth. However, a full-HD film will take about 5 minutes to download.
For online gaming, you'll need a speed of at least 10 Mbps. But, if you are a heavy user of online games, you'll need a speed of about 200 Mbps. Your 100 Mbps plan should be sufficient for 66 gaming sessions, or at least 330 Spotify streams.
If you're not going to be gaming online, then you can still get plenty of use out of a 100 Mbps connection. Streaming HD videos, for instance, will only take a couple of minutes, and you can easily download a music album or other large file in just a few seconds.
While it's tempting to go for higher speed tiers, such as a gigabyte plan, you'll need to be careful about your choices. Some ISPs offer plans that only deliver up to 80 Mbps. In other words, a 100 Mbps plan might only be enough for three or four people. The best option is to choose a budget-friendly option.
The other thing to consider is the size of the file you're uploading. While a full-HD film will only take about five minutes to download, a typical music album might be between two and five gigabytes. Depending on your ISP, you may need a more substantial download speed for uploading YouTube videos or other large files.
Lastly, if you're planning to make multiple simultaneous video calls, you'll need to factor in the upload and download speeds as well. The upload speed is usually a tenth of the download speed, so if you plan to stream an HD video, you'll need at least 1.5 Mbps.
In the end, it's a matter of personal preference. A 100 Mbps download speed is fine for a single gamer or a family of three. On the other hand, if you're the type of person who streams multiple high-quality videos at the same time, then you'll need a faster plan.
300 Mbps download speed is an excellent choice for a home or business that needs stable, reliable connectivity. In addition, it can be beneficial for streaming 4K movies or video games.
A lot of people are looking for high-speed broadband. While the average household might only need to go with a 50-Mbps plan, a business might need more than this to run effectively. There are a few things to consider when selecting a speed, including upload and download speeds and the amount of devices you intend to connect.
300 Mbps is more than enough to play HD and 4K movies on your TV or game console. But, if you want to play online multiplayer games, you'll need more. The Federal Communications Commission recommends that you have at least a 4-Mbps upload speed for online multiplayer games. It also helps if you can find a provider that has low latency and jitter.
The biggest disadvantage of a 300 Mbps download speed is that it can slow down during peak times. For example, during a video conference with several sites, you might need a large amount of bandwidth. This is because of the latency, which is the lag between your home network and the site that you are conferencing with.
If you need to make a lot of video calls, you might want to look into a plan with a higher upload speed. Many cable providers provide 10-35 Mbps upload speed. However, if you do not have cable, you'll have to rely on Wi-Fi to get your connection up to speed.
Unlike the internet that you have at work, you won't need to be able to connect as many devices with 300 Mbps. You'll be able to stream UHD movies and play video games with up to 10 or more connected devices. On top of that, it can be a good option for working from home.
While a 300 Mbps download speed is a great choice for a home or small business, it's not worth it for a larger household. You'll need to pay more for a plan that's faster than this. Also, the 300 Mbps download speed might not be enough for video gaming or heavy file downloading.
The download and upload speeds of a 300 Mbps plan will vary depending on the number of devices and your Internet Service Provider. For instance, you might need a speed of at least 100 Mbps for Netflix, which requires a 25 Mbps download speed. Likewise, you might need a 30 Mbps upload speed to upload a 1GB photo album to a friend in four minutes, 26 seconds.
However, there are many options for a 300 Mbps download speed. If you need a faster speed, you might consider a fiber or DSL connection instead. Alternatively, you could sign up for an Optimum internet plan, which has the fastest upload speed of any ISP in the country and offers a lower latency than the competition.
If you need an internet connection that can support multiple devices at the same time, 200 Mbps is a good choice. While this is not the fastest speed on the market, it is more than enough to stream HD video and make video calls. It can also handle large file transfers and email attachments.
200 Mbps is a good speed for a small office with eight to ten employees. The higher upload rate can help avoid lag or buffering when streaming video. This type of internet plan is also ideal for working from home. However, if you are a heavy internet user, this may not be enough.
If you have a family with many devices, you may want to consider a faster internet connection. A 50 Mbps connection is a good option, but it will not allow you to stream video at the same time. You can get this level of internet service for as little as $15 per month. That is if you live in a building with Starry Internet, a low-cost Internet Service Provider that provides high-speeds.
Alternatively, you can get a 100 Mbps internet plan. These are the speeds that are recommended for most families. They are sufficient for e-mail, streaming and browsing. For video gaming, you will need a more advanced connection.
When it comes to gaming, you want a reliable connection that offers high throughput. This is important, as gaming relies on a lot of data to move back and forth. In addition to ping/latency, the amount of bandwidth is one of the most important factors. Using DSL or cable can hurt your gaming experience.
For most of us, 100-200 Mbps is a good range of speeds. They are fast enough to stream 4K videos, watch Netflix, or work on a large file transfer. Depending on your Internet Service Provider, you should be able to choose a download speed that ranges from 20 to 100 Mbps.
If you are planning to use a lot of large files, such as video and audio, you will need a fast internet connection. Large data files are often downloaded more quickly than hours. If you are an online gamer, you need to be able to download games and play them on your computer.
If you're a Skype user, you should consider an internet plan that includes a higher upload rate. Your upload rate will determine how fast you can stream and download video. If your upload rate is too slow, you could have problems with video calls and video distortion.
If you need a speed that is future-proof, you should consider getting an internet plan with a high upload capacity. Some high-speed plans can boost their upload speed to up to 200 Mbps.
The BBL, Australia's premier cricket league, will lose its live coverage as a result of a $1 billion deal struck by Seven and Foxtel. Although the move is a positive step for the sport, it will see a substantial drop in the number of matches available for viewers. But it's not the only major Australian sports program to be hit. Digital rights for the AFL and tennis are also under threat, with the Australian government approving new anti-siphoning laws.
Cricket Australia has signed a $1 billion deal with Seven and Foxtel. The new package includes a 20 match per season cut in the Big Bash League. There will also be a hike in women's content in the first three years. This deal marks a significant shift in Australian sports broadcasting.
The deal comes after a long and bitter legal stoush between Seven and CA over content. Both companies have been at loggerheads for almost two years.
Cricket is seen as a summer filler between football seasons. As such, Cricket Australia has trumpeted its content on commercial networks. In fact, there's more cricket content on commercial networks than ever before. However, the number of viewers is falling.
The Big Bash League T20 competition was packaged around the school holiday period. This reduced the number of crowds, and eventually led to a bloated competition.
Seven has secured some of the Big Bash League rights, but the majority of the matches will still be aired on Fox Sports. In the meantime, the deal will see Seven continue to show all women's internationals.
The deal also includes an increase in the number of home women's internationals. These include multi-format series against South Africa and India. It will also include the Hopman Cup in Perth.
The deal will save Seven more than $50 million in cash over the life of the contract. But, the amount of money Seven receives is limited by a variety of factors.
Seven has threatened to drop out of the ongoing contract, and is pursuing legal action in the Federal Court. In response to this, CA has given Seven a deadline to submit their best and final offers.
The Australian Open men's final last year was the most watched tennis match in the past four years. It also attracted the largest television audience for a men's singles final since 1978.
Ash Barty became the first Australian to win the tournament in over 40 years. He then announced his retirement after two years on the tour.
Nine has seized on tennis's appeal to its audience. It has a large following for the game and will cover all of the four grand slams and the United Cup.
Seven's broadcast package is largely similar to that of its rivals. It carries programming in central and eastern Australia and in regional areas. In addition, the network has a high-definition national broadcast facility in Melbourne. But it has not been able to enter talks on an extension to its existing rights deal until Nine's exclusive negotiating period with Tennis Australia expires.
Speculation is rife that the commercial network could soon sign a deal worth as much as US$125 million a year. That would be a significant increase on the current deal.
But Seven is also keen to make another bid for tennis rights. The broadcaster is in the process of launching a new free-to-air channel, 7Bravo, to show big reality shows. It also wants to monetise the game across all forms of sport.
As part of its bid, Nine has picked up all of the audio-visual rights for streaming and mobile devices. It also acquired all the rights to a range of social platforms.
Nine has also been able to lock in the rights to the United Cup, the global team competition presented by Tennis Australia. The competition will commence in Brisbane, Perth and Sydney in December.
The AFL has finally secured its $4.5 billion deal to keep its football broadcast rights on the Seven Network and Foxtel for another seven years. It comes as both companies are also expanding into digital offerings.
Foxtel will have exclusive rights to Saturday games for the first eight rounds of the Melbourne season, Anzac Day and Easter Monday. They will also broadcast the AFL Grand Final.
The deal is the biggest media contract for the AFL in years, and the biggest ever for an Australian sport. Nine Entertainment Co and CBS made a $500 million bid to secure the rights, with the Nine backed by streaming service Stan.
The Nine deal also encompasses lead up tournaments around Australia, including the Brisbane, Sydney and Hobart Internationals. The Australian Open is also included, as is the Hopman Cup in Perth.
For its part, the Seven Network will also be able to broadcast its marquee matches and finals. In addition to all home games, it will broadcast all of the competition's televised events, including the awards night.
However, the deal has drawn a lot of criticism because of the "Super Saturday" concept it floated. This was an attempt to maximise the number of games aired on its network.
However, the deal doesn't stipulate a timeslot for the grand final. AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan said the deal was "the best of the best" and the amount of games that would be shown on free to air TV was similar to the previous deal.
However, a recent Deloitte study found that only 56% of Australians are willing to pay for sports subscriptions. That leaves AFL broadcasters looking for ways to convince non-subscribers.
The Seven Broadcasting Service has taken over cricket media rights from Nine and Network Ten. The deal will run for seven years. It includes the Hopman Cup in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney and Hobart Internationals and lead-up tournaments throughout Australia.
Cricket Australia has signed a new television deal with Foxtel Group, Fox Sports and Seven. The package includes all of the Australian men's internationals and test matches, the women's Australian internationals and all of the women's Tests. In addition, Seven will have live digital streaming rights.
According to the deal, all of the home matches for the men's team will be broadcast on Foxtel and Seven. Foxtel is also reportedly working on securing some exclusive games with Kayo. However, the White-ball internationals of the men's team will still be behind a paywall.
The BBL will be reduced to 43 games from 61 in the previous season. This is intended to increase the availability of Australian players. It is also expected to finish within the school holidays.
The new deal also sees a significant hike in the amount of women's content. In the first three years, there will be an increased number of women's internationals. There will also be an expanded women's calendar. During this period, there will be an increased number of home multi-format series, including matches against England and India.
Seven will also have exclusive access to the AFL Grand Final. Both Seven and Foxtel will have overlapping commitments during the summer of 2032.
The deal is expected to have a significant impact on the way that sports are viewed on free-to-air television. The new deal could have a negative impact on FTA ratings.
Anti-siphoning laws were introduced in 1992 to keep pay television broadcasters from buying up all the rights to major sporting events. The legislation was designed to ensure that free to air broadcasters kept the right to show the events they acquired, but some free to air networks are taking advantage of a loophole.
Major sports bodies can sell their broadcast rights to global digital giants, which could include streaming services. This means that the Australian public will be left without access to some of the country's most important sporting events.
While the Australian Broadcasting Tribunal recommended the laws should be updated, the government hasn't taken action to fix the loophole. Communications Minister Michelle Rowland says it's outdated. She says the Government will review the laws within 12 months.
Streaming multinationals are not covered by the law, despite the possibility that they could buy rights to listed events. However, this hasn't stopped some free to air companies from competing for broadcast rights in tandem with streaming services.
Seven and Foxtel have both been keen to secure exclusive games. Kayo is also looking for a deal to get its cricket game. In addition, Foxtel is reportedly trying to secure 'Super Saturday' with an exclusive game.
Free to air broadcasters have been fearful that global digital giants will take advantage of a loophole in the law and "siphon off" the rights to live sporting events. The Federal Labor Government is considering a review of the laws to ensure the government's promises to give all Australians free access to live events are fulfilled.
But with so many of Australia's most popular events on the anti-siphoning list, the government has a clear obligation to change the legislation.
The Liverpool defence has been in a mess for the past few months. As a result, the club has been paying a lot of attention to it. And a defeat to Brentford on Sunday has only reaffirmed that need.
Brentford produced a performance of immense quality to defeat Liverpool 3-1 at the weekend. The defeat left the Reds in desperate need of a fresh start.
In his first game since the birth of his child, Fabinho was brought in for Jordan Henderson. Unlike Henderson, however, Fabinho was not a match-winner. Instead, he was outclassed by a formidable Brentford midfield.
Despite having to play without Thiago, Fabinho did his best to lead the way for the Reds. He was involved in several key moments, including a great cross from Mathias Jensen. However, he was unable to save a floundering defence.
After an impressive first half, the Reds fell behind at half time. But a fine header from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain levelled the score.
Reading piled on the pressure in the second half. They started to look more likely to make an attacking comeback. A goal was inevitable, but a disastrous defensive mistake by Ibrahima Konate gave Bryan Mbeumo the chance to win it. This rounded the keeper and gave the hosts a route back into the game.
As soon as the ball was played back into the centre of the pitch, the Reds began to lose shape. In an attempt to get it out of the ground, they went wide often. That was particularly noticeable when Fabinho was withdrawn, which was followed by a change of midfield.
During the first half, the Reds were the most threatening team on the pitch. Although they did not create many chances, their attacking was impressive. Mohamed Salah and Connor Wickham were particularly effective.
But Liverpool failed to take advantage of their superior possession. The sloppy midfield left them open to counter-attacks.
One of the most impressive performances of the season came from Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez. During his time at Benfica, he scored 34 goals in 41 matches. He was also a thorn in the side of Liverpool in the Champions League.
Despite the fact that he hasn't really been able to show off his best game, Nunez has been a revelation. The 22-year-old is already a stud, and he could make an impression in the coming years.
As a member of the Liverpool team, he will have to show up in the right places. There are several issues at the club, including the departures of Sadio Mane and Divock Origi.
For a player who has been touted as the next big thing, he hasn't had the best introduction to top level English football. His stats attracted the attention of both Manchester United and Liverpool.
But in the end, it was his performance in the UEFA Champions League that made him a name in the transfer market. After a strong showing against Liverpool, he is likely to be rewarded with a move to Anfield.
Before he arrived, he'd been linked with a number of clubs, from Borussia Dortmund to Manchester United. In the summer, he signed for Liverpool for a reported $79 million. Considering the amount of money paid for him, it's a pretty good signing.
With a contract that expires in 2028, he's bound to see plenty of action. However, he's not a foolproof option on the defensive end of the pitch.
The best part is that he's got plenty of talent to offer, and it's unlikely that he'll be pushed out of the starting lineup any time soon. That's a good thing for Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool's defensive woes were exposed as they lost to Brentford in Matchday 19. A three-goal defeat in the Premier League meant Jurgen Klopp's side slipped to fourth place and lost a chance to catch Manchester United. It was the first time they'd been defeated by Brentford since a 3-0 win in 84 years.
Liverpool were caught out by Brentford's tenacity and counterattacking. They were racked by crosses early in the game and their back line was unable to deal with the ball.
Virgil van Dijk had been an immense rock over the last few seasons, but his performance against Brentford was below par. His mistake in the first half gifted an own goal. He was replaced by Joel Matip.
Liverpool were looking to get back into the game. During the second half, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored the only goal. After a good cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold, he nodded the ball home. However, the ball bounced on the six yard line and was cleared.
Nunez gave Liverpool hope, but he dragged his shot wide of the target. The Uruguayan was offside. This was the third time he'd had a shot offside this season.
The second half resorted to counterattacks by the visitors. Their front two were tormented throughout. Tsimikas and Oxlade-Chamberlain combined on a number of occasions.
But Liverpool's defence was exposed when they conceded two goals before the break. Ethan Pinnock's shot was saved by Alisson, while Wissa headed past the goalkeeper from a Mathias Jensen cross.
Liverpool's best moment of the game came with a brilliant volley from Oxlade-Chamberlain in the final minute. He buried the ball low beyond Fernandez. That was the only bright spot in a dreadful match.
The Reds looked to be battling for a place in the top four but they fell to a shock 3-1 defeat at Brentford. After a shambolic first half, Liverpool pressed for an equaliser in the second. But their high defensive line failed them and they were left looking for another gear to overcome the Bees.
During the first half, Liverpool were punished for their errors. Their defence seemed to buckle under pressure, losing balls in the midfield and allowing Brentford to counterattack. There were also numerous dead ball situations. In the end, the Bees took advantage of their errors and scored three goals to rout Liverpool.
Brentford began the game with an impressive press, and a lot of possession. They created chances with their quick overlapping front two. Yoane Wissa and Ibrahima Konate tormented the Liverpool back line and were a real handful.
But Liverpool managed to create chances, and they almost drew level through a superb effort from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain in the 50th minute. He nodded a pass from Alexander Arnold past David Raya.
Virgil van Dijk was forced off at half time, with Joel Matip replacing him. The Dutchman struggled against the pace of Mbeumo and Wissa.
At the other end, Liverpool could have been two goals up, but Alisson made a crucial interception. It was a goal which the Reds had not conceded from a corner in the Premier League this season.
As the game continued, there were numerous mistakes from Liverpool. Yoane Wissa was ruled offside, and a header from Mathias Jensen was too far wide. Ethan Pinnock had two attempts on goal, but Alisson saved both.
But a last-minute goal from Bryan Mbeumo sealed the victory for the Bees. His effort, which squirmed past Alisson, was a soft goal to go behind.
Liverpool's poor defensive record in the Premier League is becoming a cause for concern. They have conceded three goals in the space of six minutes at Brentford, leaving their top four hopes in tatters.
Liverpool were a shadow of their former selves in the first half. But their defending improved in the second half. The Reds had a goal disallowed for offside and missed a great chance to cut the deficit. A deflected shot by Alisson Becker was the closest they came to finding the net.
Brentford piled pressure on Liverpool in the first half and found a gap behind their full-backs. It wasn't until the 50th minute that the Reds' defence finally showed some resolve. However, it wasn't enough to save them.
In the 19th minute, Roberto Firmino snuck the ball over the defence and put Mohamed Salah through. He shot over the bar at the Kop end.
In the second half, the Reds tried to make amends. First, they pushed forward, but they weren't successful. They also lost balls in the midfield and in the defensive third.
Eventually, though, they did manage to get back into the game. They fashioned a counter-attack in the 50th minute. The ball fell to Alexander-Arnold, who headed it past Raya.
The next goal arrived six minutes later. Mbeumo was robbed of the ball by Konate and he raced towards Alisson. When the ball bounced off his knees, he squirmed in to head it past the keeper. This was a key moment in the game.
While Liverpool's defending was a cause for concern, their performance in the first half left much to be desired. Their midfield trio of Fabinho, Harvey Elliott and Thiago failed to find the correct passes. And despite their dominance, they were unable to stop Brentford from gaining possession.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has said that Jordan Henderson is not the problem - he is the glue that holds the team together. After losing 2-0 to Brentford, Liverpool have had to settle for their fourth defeat of the season, but Klopp has insisted that the game was not lost due to the absence of the England international. The Liverpool boss has questioned why Henderson was missing and has urged him to train harder. He has also outlined the importance of Henderson, who has been a huge part of Liverpool's success in the past.
There has been a heavy metal theme at Liverpool's games this season. Often accompanied by the backing vocals of the Kop, this is a style of football that was once associated with a club that has been around since the 1930s.
The first match this year between the two sides was in the League Cup and ended in a stalemate. Despite the stalemate, Liverpool were looking for their fifth straight win and were four points behind Manchester United before the game. However, a 3-1 defeat at Brentford halted their hopes of leapfrogging Chelsea to the top four.
While Klopp's side were impressive at the start, they were also vulnerable to the opposition. Liverpool were constantly picking their noses at the ball and losing it in the defensive third. This led to set piece attacks and counterattacks. In fact, the midfield trio of Fabinho, Harvey Elliott and Thiago were constantly misplacing passes.
After the break, the team stepped up its game. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain pulled one back. But, as the game moved into the second half, Brentford began to cause trouble. They scored through an own goal, an offside flag and a header.
The game was a real head scratcher for Liverpool. There was an obvious lack of urgency and quality to beat the Brentford defence. Their high-line was constantly being picked apart, and they were unable to deal with the aerial threat.
It was an embarrassing loss for the Reds, who had won their last four games and were four points clear of the Reds at the top of the table. Jurgen Klopp's side needed a comeback and it didn't happen.
Brentford started off well, gaining an early lead through an own goal from Ibrahima Konate. He ricocheted the ball off his knee and put it past Alisson.
It wasn't long before Yoane Wissa headed in another. Bryan Mbeumo then sealed the win with a well-struck effort.
A number of Liverpool players were missing due to injury. David Raya, Josh Dasilva, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Mathias Jorgensen are all out, but the likes of Charlie Goode and Rico Henry could return.
You may have heard of Jurgen Klopp's comments about mentality monsters. The term has been used to describe Liverpool teams that have a winning mentality and are relentless when it comes to winning. They can often be depressing, but they can also be inspirational.
Liverpool's fixture list for December is pretty heavy. They play Villarreal, Tottenham, and Aston Villa in a week. It's the toughest schedule of the season so far.
If they can make it through, the team will have achieved something no other Premier League side has done in the past 30 years. However, a win will not guarantee them success. As the pressure builds, the team needs to perform at their best.
One of Klopp's biggest complaints this season has been that the players have not been turning up. He has spoken about the importance of getting the squad to a stage where they feel ready for a match.
Some players go to pieces under pressure. Others simply don't know how to respond. When it comes to playing under pressure, Klopp needs to get the team to believe again.
There are no easy answers to this problem. It takes time to build belief. Success will help bolster the team's mentality. But failure will erode it.
Liverpool lost to Nottingham Forest on Saturday. That's their second loss in a row. And they've lost to West Ham and Manchester United away this season.
The defeats to Manchester United and West Ham have prompted some criticism. Former Liverpool players, such as Gabby Agbonlahor, have attacked the manager.
Gabby Agbonlahor, a radio pundit for talkSPORT, criticized the manager after the 4-0 thrashing by Brentford. He also took umbrage with the way the team responded to his comments.
On the other hand, former Crystal Palace owner Simon Jordan said the comments were worth listening to. His assessment contrasted with Arsenal's lack of respect for the club.
Despite these criticisms, Klopp has defended the club. He believes they have "a very big fixture list in December" and he is willing to fight for them.
During his time at Liverpool, Jordan Henderson has become a true leader on the field. He has been praised by his team-mates for his commitment, work-rate and energy.
Henderson has scored important goals for Liverpool. His last-minute header against Wolves in January was one of the goals that helped the club win a historic Champions League final. And his fervent displays have helped Steven Gerrard, Luis Suarez and Daniel Sturridge to run riot.
But there are a few issues with Henderson's game. His lack of a silky running style, and his lack of a cultured left foot, are two problems that have plagued him.
Injuries have also hampered Henderson's career. He suffered from a torn ligament in his knee in April. As a result, he was ruled out for the last three months of the season.
Then, in November, Henderson suffered from a torn plantar fasciitis. It was a blow that would haunt him for the rest of the season. Not only did it limit his opportunities in the first-team, but it also put his future at risk.
While he has been an important player for Liverpool, Jordan Henderson's place in the side is questionable. He's not the most gifted of the team, and his team-leading qualities are often undervalued.
In the end, he has been the glue that holds the Liverpool group together. He has led by example, and he has urged his teammates to improve.
With new signings in the summer, it's likely that Henderson will be a bit limited in his chances. Emre Can is a certain starter, and Marko Grujic could get the nod. Still, Henderson is a valuable squad member, and he should remain an influential figure in Liverpool's history.
At his best, Henderson is a box-to-box midfielder. Yet, his ability to influence further forward means that he can play a more versatile role.
While he's not the most aesthetically pleasing player, Henderson is a hard worker who has improved greatly since his days at Sunderland. He has more attacking instinct than he has ever been given credit for.
The match between Liverpool and Manchester City was always going to be an exciting one. But things got even more dramatic when Phil Foden's goal was ruled out by VAR.
The video assistant referee (VAR) had to consult the pitchside monitor after Erling Haaland had tussled with Fabinho in the build-up to the goal. It was ruled that Haaland had fouled the Brazilian, and this was the reason for the goal being disallowed.
Pep Guardiola was visibly angered by the decision. He also claimed that coins were thrown at him during the game. His reaction to the VAR decision differed from what he would have done had the goal been awarded.
Before the game began, he had singled out James Milner for a challenge. However, he did not get his deserved red card. Instead, he was shown marching orders for his protest.
The game was delayed for over 30 minutes because of technical issues with the VAR. Liverpool had just gotten past the break when they received an invitation to shoot instead of play in. They did so and a 76th-minute strike from Mohamed Salah ended the match. That was a huge moment, and ended Manchester City's unbeaten start to the season.
Manchester City have now dropped four points to Arsenal, who drew 1-0 with Leeds earlier in the day. Although City remain second in the table, they have been knocked off pace. Despite the defeat, they are still two points ahead of Liverpool, who have lost seven of their last eight games in the Premier League.
Liverpool were also unhappy with the goal, and after the match they protested. Several fouls were allowed to go unpunished. And, in the end, the referee decided to overturn the VAR ruling, which had initially given them the lead.
There is a chance that the Liverpool manager could be banned from the dugout. The coach is reportedly being investigated by the Football Association for misconduct.
As the game ended, the Anfield crowd became a ruckus. Some fans threw coins at Guardiola and his players.
