Starbucks Happy Hour:
Kicking off the new school year with the Starbucks Happy Hour, we lined the streets and created a new way to pay with our faces. If you know someone, offer this to them for an easy way to provide feedback. With Zimki's facial recognition app, all feedback is validated, and the feedback data is food for hire, helping other students improve their feedback culture like we did.
Buy one handcrafted drink (grande or larger) and get the second one (of equal or lesser value) absolutely free. But what do we mean by “handcrafted”? Good question. Handcrafted drinks include all espresso-based drinks, Frappuccino® Blended Beverages, seasonal drinks, iced teas, cold coffees and, yes, even Nitro. (Source:
Starbucks saw an 11% increase in foot traffic during its Happy Hour period of 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursdays, which launched on Oct. 10, 2019, according to a new report from inMarket emailed to Restaurant Dive. The revamped promotion offered buy-one-get-one free for any grande or larger handcrafted beverage.
Happy Hour was expanded in 2018 to include deals on drinks beyond the Frappuccino and bolster Starbucks' afternoon sales, which was previously a weak part of the day. The events, which take place every few weeks between 2 pm and 7 pm on Thursdays, offer customers who buy a handcrafted drink (such as espresso-based blends, iced teas or cold coffees) a second one for free.
Starbucks' decision to put happy hour on hold highlights an uneasy tension between deals and safety that many chains are grappling with during the pandemic. In April, for example, Taco Bell faced backlash for holding a free-taco deal as coronavirus cases surged. (Source: www.businessinsider.com)
