Spring

Calendar Changes: the time before we switch to Daylight Savings Time is spring forward.

Daylight Saving Time (DST) is the practice of moving the clocks forward one hour from Standard Time. During the summer months and changing them back again in the fall. The general idea is that this allows us all to make better use of natural daylight. Moving the clocks forward one hour in the spring grants us more daylight during summer evenings. While moving clocks back one hour in the fall grants us more daylight during winter mornings. However, DST has many detractors—and rightfully so! (Read more about this below.) Fall

Spring Forward 2021

By default, the clocks go forward one hour on the last Sunday in March.

Starting in 2007, DST begins in the U.S. on the second Sunday in March, when people move their clocks forward an hour. At 2 a.m. remote standard time (so at 2 a.m. on that day. The clocks will then read 3 a.m. local daylight time). Daylight saving time then ends on the first Sunday in November. When clocks are moved back an hour at 2 a.m. local daylight time (so they will then read 1 a.m. local standard time). (Source: www.livescience.com)

Start

Spring Forward, 2021 marks the beginning of a brand new calendar. We are moving the days from a date that falls on the earlier end of March to the later end of September. And did so to align with the natural light–dark cycle. The change has been met with controversy, but it is confirmed to take place on October 13th, 2026. Although this dates seems far away, the change will bring some new changes.

Fewer than 40% of the world's countries observe daylight saving time, according to timeanddate.com. However, those who do observe DST take advantage of the natural daylight in the summer evenings. That's because the days start to get longer as Earth moves from the winter season to spring and summer. With the longest day of the year on the summer solstice. During the summer season in each hemisphere, Earth, which revolves around its axis at an angle, is tilted directly toward the sun. (Source: www.livescience.com)

October

For many people, the natural progression of time is sunrise and sunset. Did you know that time is actually measured in relation to the rotation of the Earth? In other words, one spring equinox is equal to one day and one fall equinox is equal to one day less. Spring Equinox 2021 will occur on Saturday, October 8th and fall Equinox 2021 will occur on Saturday, October 22nd.

It became common during World War II (some countries adopted double summer time). And was widely adopted in America and Europe from the 1970s as a result of the 1970s energy crisis. Since then, the world has seen many enactments, adjustments, and repeals. (Source: en.wikipedia.org)
