Ross Naess is a star-kid of legendary pop singer Diana Ross and millionaire mountaineer Arne Naess Jr. He has chosen the profession of an adventurer following his father’s legacy. The personality is associated with hiking, trekking, adventurous sports such as dirt biking. Naess tried to follow in his father’s footsteps of exploring the untrodden places in the world. He has featured in media outlets such as Dagbladet Magasinet magazine. Aside from this, he is also a professional photographer. His photos have been featured in renowned magazines.

In 1966, Næss married Filippa Kumlin d'Orey of Sweden and together they had son Christoffer and two daughters, Katinka and folk/pop singer Leona Naess. After they divorced, he had a relationship with Norwegian actress Mari Maurstad. In 1985, Næss met American singer Diana Ross on a trip to the Bahamas. He and Ross married in 1985 and had two sons, Ross Arne Næss (born October 7, 1987) and Evan Olav Næss (born August 26, 1988). Through his marriage, he gained three stepdaughters, Rhonda Ross Kendrick (Ross' daughter with Motown Records founder Berry Gordy), Chudney Ross, and Tracee Ellis Ross; the latter two being Ross' daughters from her first marriage to music executive Robert Ellis Silberstein. Ross began his career as an actor while a student at Greenwich High School. His first major role was in the film, ATL, released in March 2006, in which he co-starred with rappers T.I. and Big Boi. Ross received rave reviews for his role as troubled teenager Amare McCarter in the HBO television film Life Support, starring alongside Queen Latifah and his real-life half-sister Tracee Ellis Ross, who portrayed his elder sister in the film. Ross later co-starred in the biographical film Pride, in which he portrayed a good-natured teen with a speech impediment. He also appeared (uncredited) in an episode of Girlfriends. The episode, titled "What's Black-A-Lackin'?", also guest-starred Chrisette Michele, and was directed by his half-sister Tracee.
