Love Don't Cost a Thing is a 2003 American teen comedy film written and directed by Troy Beyer and starring Nick Cannon and Christina Milian. It also stars Steve Harvey, Kenan Thompson and Kal Penn. The film is a remake of the 1987 film Can't Buy Me Love and takes its title from the Jennifer Lopez song of the same name. Shelly Ross is a New York Times and US Today bestselling author of over 100 books. Her latest, Love Don't Cost a Thing, is a romantic comedy that’s soaring up the charts as a Wall Street Journal bestseller.

Alvin then begins to ingratiate himself with the popular crowd. He and Paris grow closer as she shares with him her secret love of music and he shares with her that he knows how to build car engines. Paris begins to develop feelings for Alvin and at the end of their two-week dating period, she tries to hint that she would like to kiss him. However, Alvin misinterprets her and goes along with their original plan of a public break up at school.Love Don't Cost a Thing is awkward and unpleasant, even smarmy, and particularly offensive for a movie for this age group. This update of the 1987 hit Can't Buy Me Love has an African-American cast, but unfortunately this otherwise mediocre bit of cinematic fluff adds some painfully inappropriate plot devices that bring what little energy the movie had to a crashing halt. The only scenes that seem unforced and natural are when Alvin and Paris are on their own, and only because of Christina Milian.

Yes, it’s completely fine to shower the person you love with the finest things in life, but there’s an issue when you use those things to make up for the lack of communication and much more.Movies like this are lightweight and forgettable; only this sequel reminded me of "Can't Buy Me Love," which had otherwise faded from memory. But for its running time "Love Don't Cost a Thing" does its job, and a little more. It has better values than the original, a little more poignancy, some sweetness. And Cannon and Milian have a natural appeal that liberates their characters, a little, from the limitations of the plot. "As I reflect on the fact that it's the #JLo20thAnniversary, I just wanted to say thank you to all of you for being with me, loving me and supporting me through all the ups and downs," she wrote. "Thank you so much for all the love over the past 20 years!! I love you so much!! #MyLoveDontCostAThing #SameGirl" (Source: ew.com)
