Ashton Kutcher is best known for his roles on shows like That '70s Show and Two and a Half Men, but he's also an entrepreneur and tech investor.

Reese Witherspoon’s Sons Mocked Ashton Kutcher’s Favorite NFL Team

Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher star as best friends in the upcoming Netflix rom-com Your Place or Mine. The story follows Debbie (Reese Witherspoon) and Peter (Ashton Kutcher), who have been long distance best friends for some time. However, when they switch locations to film the movie, their bonds are tested.

Recently, the couple made an awkward appearance at the premiere of their new movie and fans quickly noticed it online. Their photos quickly went viral after being shared online.

On Monday, Ashton Kutcher addressed the social media backlash on his Chicks in the Office podcast. He defended his decision to keep Reese at a distance during their press tour, explaining that if he had put his arms around her or acted like an ordinary person, people might have begun believing rumors that he was having an affair with her.

He further explained that he and Reese had to be mindful when posing for photos as it could spread false rumors. Therefore, they kept their hands tucked into their pockets when posing for the cameras.

Ashton's explanation was sound, yet it still caused some consternation on Twitter. Some users pointed out that Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain appeared more at ease while promoting Scenes from a Marriage even though they were married to different partners.

Reese Witherspoon took to Twitter to discuss her new film and the relationship with Ashton Kutcher. She recalled their early encounters prior to being cast in the film, including meeting at a party where he brought his own cooler for drinks - although Reese admitted he seemed hesitant at first, eventually becoming one of her closest friends.

Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher Have a Chill Relationship

Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher appear to have a pretty relaxed relationship despite some awkward red carpet moments during their recent promotional tours for Their Place or Mine, the new romantic comedy from director Aline Brosh McKenna (27 Dresses, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend). The movie follows two lifelong best friends as they exchange homes for one week in Your Place or Mine.

Reese Witherspoon stars as Debbie, a single mom living in Los Angeles who lives with her son; Ashton Kutcher portrays Peter, an advertising executive from New York. When the two decide to spend a week together, they explore whether their longtime friendship could blossom into romance.

On Valentine's Day 2023, Netflix will release the romantic comedy Crazy Ex-Girlfriend with Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher as their characters in it. Witherspoon and Kutcher have previously collaborated on Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and 27 Dresses; this storyline promises to leave audiences feeling emotionally invested in these characters.

Witherspoon and Kutcher's characters share an affinity for vintage clothing, something Brosh McKenna wanted to capture in her script. To illustrate their affection for nostalgia, the pair even had a scene where they donned garments from the early 2000s to embody it.

Mila Kunis took advantage of their red carpet appearances by poking fun at their awkward poses - which she knew would be appreciated by Reese Witherspoon, whose wife often gives constructive criticism. Knowing that Mila would find it humorous if she called attention to the rom-com stars' awkward poses, Reese knew exactly how To do so.

After emailing her husband and costar about their awkward red carpet moments, Kutcher recalled Kunis saying to him, "You guys look so awkward together" - adding that it was true. However, as Witherspoon pointed out, the rom-com star is fortunate that her spouse has such a good sense of humor.

Reese Witherspoon Explains How She and Ashton Kutcher Got to Know Each Other

Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher may appear awkward in red carpet photos, but the two have actually grown close friends in real life. Before filming their upcoming romantic comedy, both stars said they made an effort to get to know one another better.

Recently, Peter Kutcher and Debbie Witherspoon shared the red carpet together for Your Place or Mine, a Netflix movie about best friends Peter (Kutcher) and Debbie (Witherspoon) who swap lives for one week so they can live in each other's worlds. Directed by Aline Brosh McKenna - an award-winning writer/director who was inspired to make this movie after going through similar experiences herself.

In Your Place or Mine, Witherspoon stars as Debbie, a structure-loving mother living in Los Angeles with her teenage son. She craves consistency while Kutcher portrays Peter, an uptown New York businessman who thrives on change. After swapping their homes for a week, the two discover they don't really need what they think they need.

Both actors have experience in rom-coms, but this is their first time starring together. When Reese Witherspoon and Kutcher were offered the role, they eagerly accepted to work with both the script and director.

Although the film's plot may seem familiar, the stars' on-screen chemistry truly did bring them together as costars and friends. Both actors were thrilled to make a new film, hoping to craft an enjoyable tale that people could connect to.

After they finished shooting their movie, both actors stayed in touch through text and social media. They even exchanged videos back-and-forth before the film premiered.

Reese Witherspoon Explains How She and Ashton Kutcher Met

Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher return for Your Place or Mine, a cozy rom-com that follows best friends who live on opposite sides of the country who reconnect after two decades. When they swap houses for a week, it becomes apparent that their relationship may have deeper roots than they realized.

Brosh McKenna remarked that both actors share an appreciation of classic Hollywood style films. Their upcoming Netflix release, which premieres on February 10, stars Witherspoon as a California accountant who trades her home for a week with Kutcher's New York business consultant character.

Brosh McKenna observes that Witherspoon and Williams are in their 40s, adding an authentic element to their love story. In the film, Witherspoon discovers a book her best friend has hidden from her and decides to try to get it published. Along the way she flirts with an attractive publisher (Jesse Williams) but fails to fall instantly in love with his cool, sensual eyes.

In addition to Witherspoon and Kutcher, the film boasts an impressive cast that helps further elevate its story. Tig Notaro stars as Alicia's best friend, giving a performance filled with dry wit that matches her co-star's. Zoe Chao portraying a seductive former flame of Witherspoon also gives an excellent performance.

Your Place or Mine features some impressive talent onscreen, yet it lacks depth to justify its lengthy running time. The primary issue with the movie lies in its two stars being located 3,000 miles apart - something which does not help foster chemistry between them.

Witherspoon and Kutcher portray their characters admirably, but the storyline is rather uninteresting, and their chemistry seems forced. Unfortunately, it's a shame since these two stars' talents make the film watchable.

Reese Witherspoon Explains How She and Ashton Kutcher Worked Together

Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher have a longstanding friendship that dates back several years - it even extends to their sons! However, it wasn't until they started filming Their Place or Mine that the actors really became close as costars.

In the Netflix film, Reese Witherspoon stars as Debbie and Ashton Kutcher portrays Peter. These best friends are complete opposites - Debbie craves routine in Los Angeles while Peter thrives on change in New York. But when they swap their lives for a week, they discover what they think they want isn't necessarily what's necessary.

Your Place or Mine, written and directed by Aline Brosh McKenna - rom-com icon in her own right (whose credits include Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and 27 Dresses - follows a duo's house swap experience as they learn to appreciate each other's differences. She also produced the movie alongside Witherspoon and Jason Bateman.

For the actors, it was an opportunity to step outside their typical roles and form friendships while also putting on a romantic face for the camera. Furthermore, it was an honor for them to collaborate with a director who is well-versed in this genre and known for creating believable on-screen chemistry.

Though they appeared awkward on the red carpet while promoting their movie, that didn't stop them from having fun on set. With help from director Reese Witherspoon and Kutcher really connected as costars while shooting Your Place or Mine.

In an interview with Variety, Witherspoon discussed why she and Kutcher were able to maintain their chemistry during filming the movie. She mentioned that they were friends before appearing in Your Place or Mine and it was nice for them to get to know each other better while working with a director who knows how to craft romantic comedies.

Ashton Kutcher Says If He Was All Friendly With Reese Witherspoon on Red

Ashton Kutcher Says If He Was 'All Friendly' With Reese Witherspoon on Red Carpet

Ashton Kutcher may be best known for his role as a dim-witted stoner, but he's also an accomplished actor and tech innovator. He's featured in several hit rom-coms such as Just Married and Punk'd.

Kutcher stars in his latest rom-com, Your Place or Mine. In it, he portrays best friends Debbie and Peter who exchange homes for a week, discovering that their lives might be missing something more than just each other.

He Looks Awkward With Reese Witherspoon on Red Carpet

Recently, much has been made about Ashton Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon looking awkward on the red carpet for their new movie Your Place or Mine. In this rom-com, which comes out this Friday on Netflix, they play Debbie and Peter - best friends who live on opposite coasts who decide to swap houses for one week. As they realize how much they miss each other -- and long to be together again - they embark on an adventurous journey together.

But their lack of chemistry on the red carpet and promotional photos for Your Place or Mine make it appear as if they've never met before make this much sense. Mila Kunis even sent Kutcher and Witherspoon an email joke about their red-carpet photos.

On a recent episode of Chicks in the Office podcast, Kutcher addressed all the criticism surrounding his and Witherspoon's red carpet photos. The 45-year-old actor revealed that he was actually afraid to get too close to his costar for photos.

He expressed his concern that people might think they were having an affair. Furthermore, he was worried they would be seen together in public and their pictures might get reused on social media platforms.

On the red carpet, instead of placing his arm around Witherspoon's, he kept it in his pocket. This was apparently done so that people wouldn't have to see him and Witherspoon together and could focus on the film itself.

Kutcher's red carpet photo has gone viral for an unusual reason, but it isn't the first time he's come under fire for his awkwardness on the red carpet. For years now, critics have targeted him based on both his physical appearance and lack of self-belief.

He's even admitted to feeling uneasy on the red carpet. He says that when he's out there, he always worries about people's reactions to him and his looks, creating an uncomfortable situation for himself.

He’s Just Trying to Take a Photo

Kutcher and Witherspoon are currently promoting their Netflix movie Your Place or Mine, and photos of them posing together have been causing quite a stir online. Many fans have lamented the awkwardness of these red carpet photos, insisting there appears to be no chemistry between them at all.

At a recent appearance on the Chicks in the Office podcast, Ashton Kutcher explained that he was just taking a photo for privacy. To prevent people from thinking he was having an affair with his co-star, he kept his arms inside his pockets and maintained a straight face while taking the photo.

Kutcher's wife Mila Kunis took to Twitter to poke fun at his awkward red carpet photos with Reese Witherspoon. According to Mila, they sent each other an email with some humorous responses regarding their press tour photos; now Witherspoon has joined in on the fun on social media platforms as well.

One fan tweeted: "They look like divorced parents at their kids' graduation!" Others lamented the awkwardness of the photos and said they don't appear to have any sexual chemistry."

Another tweeter commented, "This show gives us a taste of rom-com where they swap houses and live for a week, but the chemistry is off." Another commented that Ashton Kutcher looks like he never did anything other than star in films."

These photos have been gaining traction on social media in the last few days, and despite their awkwardness, Kutcher and Witherspoon still had fun while filming Your Place or Mine.

They have been best friends since childhood, living on opposite coasts but having known each other for years. But when their paths finally cross, they must decide if they truly remain just close friends or something more.

Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher share two children, Wyatt Isabelle (8), and Dimitri Portwood(6). The couple keeps their personal life private on social media but makes an effort to be good parents by sharing photos of them online. Furthermore, Mila and Ashton like to keep things real with their kids by having many candid conversations about parenting successes as well.

He’s Trying to Avoid Affair Rumors

Early this week, photos of Ashton Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon at the premiere of their Netflix rom-com Your Place or Mine went viral. Fans immediately noticed how awkwardly Kutcher appeared to keep his hands in his pockets while Witherspoon posed rigidly at a distance away. As a result, thousands of comments and reposts followed with some questioning whether or not these two had chemistry on screen.

Kutcher recently addressed his awkward pose and related memes during an interview with Chicks in the Office podcast. He stood firm that he and Witherspoon only stood apart to avoid any extramarital affair rumors that may surface during their promotional tour.

The podcast hosts were mesmerized by Kutcher's explanation of the photo, which included the phrase "The best part is that I know why this thing was so cool." Kutcher referenced Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain's infamous Instagram campaign from 2021 which featured their hot chemistry on camera but didn't make headlines due to being married at the time.

Kutcher's reasoning may seem rational, but it's also somewhat surprising given his lengthy marriage to Mila Kunis and history of cheating on her. Additionally, the star of That '70s Show has been linked to several actresses in the past - including one of his cousins who was featured in a tabloid story last year.

Though not exactly an endorsement for the film, it's worth pointing out that its viral ad is only available in limited print and online distribution. This is an inventive way to get some exposure for the movie without having to shell out full price for promotion.

He’s Just Trying to Be a Good Friend

Ashton Kutcher has established himself as one of Hollywood's most versatile actors, appearing in films, TV shows and commercials alike. His career has encompassed comedy, drama and romance genres alike; he even featured on the hit reality show Punk'd.

He's back in the spotlight with romantic comedy Your Place or Mine, set for Netflix release on February 10. Starring Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon as best friends who swap homes for a week, the film follows their journey.

Peter (Kutcher) and Debbie (Witherspoon), two polar opposites who haven't seen each other in years, embark on an unexpected week-long swap where they discover that their lives are missing something important: each other.

Though this film is a lighthearted rom-com, it's not without its faults. The premise is somewhat generic and lacks the usual impact that rom-coms usually possess. Ultimately, however, viewers will enjoy whatever entertainment this lighthearted romantic comedy provides without feeling too overwhelmed.

In Your Place or Mine, Kutcher and Witherspoon portray best friends who become too comfortable with each other. While they have fun together, when they decide to spend a week at each other's home, it becomes all too easy for them to become consumed by their own egos.

On the red carpet for the premiere of Your Place or Mine, Kutcher and Reese Witherspoon appeared awkward in photos taken for social media platforms such as Twitter and Instagram. Some compared these pictures to Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain's photos from Venice Film Festival, causing a social media stir.

Kutcher maintains that he doesn't think much of the photos. He notes that he and Reese didn't know each other before the film, but over time they became close friends.

This could explain why they acted so awkwardly toward one another in promotional photos for the film. Perhaps they feared that putting their arms around each other would give off the impression of having an affair, leading people to assume they were having an intimate moment.

Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher Try to Revive the Romcom With Zero

Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher Try to Revive the Romcom With Zero Complication

Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher attempt to revive the house-swapping romcom genre. Your Place or Mine features all of the hallmarks of an aughts-era romantic comedy: two very different people, sharp sidekicks, and soft focus light shining down on New York and Los Angeles.

Writer Aline Brosh McKenna, best known for her modern classics 27 Dresses and The Devil Wears Prada as well as co-creating Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, has crafted an engaging tale about best friends. Unfortunately, Your Place or Mine does not live up to its potential.

The Story

Your Place or Mine is a romantic comedy directed by Aline Brosh McKenna and starring Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher. Both actors have plenty of romcom experience, having previously featured in films like Sweet Home Alabama and No Strings Attached.

In Your Place or Mine, Witherspoon stars as Debbie, a single mother who craves structure. She lives in Los Angeles and loves keeping her son's life organized while Peter (Kutcher) lives in New York City and thrives off change - the complete opposite of Debbie who wants to stick to her plan down to the last detail.

The film follows two friends as they exchange houses for a week to give each other some much needed relief from their hectic lives. Although it seems like an easy idea, the two long distance pals struggle to make it work.

Director Aline Brosh McKenna has an eye for the finer points and how these two characters interact with one another. Split-screen conversations that define their relationship are a highlight of the film, but McKenna also weaves fun adventures between these characters to create a story that's both fast-paced and thrilling as it is tender and romantic.

Witherspoon and Kutcher are joined by an ensemble cast that includes Jesse Williams, Zoe Chao, Griffin Matthews, Rachel Bloom, Wesley Kimmel, Shiri Appleby and Vella Lovell. While each of these actors provide enjoyable cameos in their own right, some could have been better integrated into the main plotline instead.

Your Place or Mine will be available on Netflix starting February 10th, making it the ideal romantic comedy for Valentine's Day and an excellent choice for fans of the genre.

Reese Witherspoon and her husband Ashton Kutcher are currently promoting their upcoming romantic comedy, Your Place or Mine. On the red carpet of the movie, some awkward photos of the couple caused quite a stir online; fortunately, they took to social media to apologize and clarify their positions.

The Cast

Both stars are classic romcom icons, so it's no shock they joined forces for this film. Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine production company has been working to revive the genre with films like Cruel Intentions and From Scratch while Kutcher has found success on his own in that genre with That '90s Show.

But Your Place or Mine doesn't quite manage to capture those timeless sparks, according to critic Amy Nicholson in the New York Times. While both Witherspoon and Kutcher are talented actors, their chemistry doesn't quite measure up to what made earlier movies so successful, she writes.

There is some chemistry between Witherspoon and Kutcher during scenes when they interact in New York, but it's not enough to save the movie from an unsatisfying script. The story alternates between Los Angeles and New York, with characters living very different lives in each city - a common issue with romcoms that attempt to tell two stories simultaneously, but unfortunately doesn't help make the film stand out from its lackluster predecessors.

Aline Brosh McKenna, creator of 27 Dresses and Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, contributed to Your Place or Mine with her expertise as a writer. Additionally, she co-wrote The Devil Wears Prada and has extensive directing experience.

Your Place or Mine does have some shortcomings, but it also boasts some excellent supporting actors such as Tig Notaro, Griffin Matthews and Rachel Bloom. Not only do these actors add some much needed comedy to the film but they all work well together alongside its two leads.

In the trailer, Witherspoon and Kutcher's characters are complete opposites - Debbie is a single mom living in Los Angeles and Peter is an affluent New Yorker with an accomplished career. For one week, they exchange houses and discover what each other needs in their lives.

Produced by Witherspoon and her Hello Sunshine partner Lauren Neustadter, and directed by Aline Brosh McKenna, the film will premiere on Netflix February 10th.

The movie follows best friends and complete opposites Debbie (Reese Witherspoon) and Peter (Ashton Kutcher), as they swap houses for a week while living in each other's worlds. After learning that they hadn't been honest about their lives, the pair decides to uncover what truly makes them contented.

The Director

Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher have earned themselves a solid reputation in the romcom genre over time, but director Aline Brosh McKenna (27 Dresses, The Devil Wears Prada, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend) wants to take things up a notch with her big screen directorial debut. Together they star in Your Place or Mine - an interswapping romcom that attempts to revive an ageless genre that's been around for decades.

In Your Place or Mine, two actors play best friends who live on opposite coasts. She's a single mom in Los Angeles while he is an aspiring writer and marketing exec from New York. When they realize she needs some space, the two decide to swap houses and lives for a week so each can get what they need.

The premise isn't bad, and the cast is capable of carrying it. Unfortunately, the movie lacks sweetness and fun as it could have been. Additionally, there are pacing issues as well as dull humor that doesn't elicit many laughs or scoffs from viewers.

Your Place or Mine is a cute romantic comedy with an impressive cast, yet it never quite hits its stride. Despite its promising start, the film feels incomplete and stuck in predictable territory.

Your Place or Mine doesn't exactly know what its plot is, but it stars Witherspoon as Debbie and Kutcher as Peter - best friends who are complete opposites. She wants a routine lifestyle with her son in LA while he's an aspiring marketing executive and writer who thrives on change in New York.

After swapping homes and schedules for a week, they come to realize that what they had imagined might not be what was truly needed. Ultimately, they understand the importance of love in life - its capacity for unconditional acceptance.

Your Place or Mine brings back Witherspoon and Kutcher alongside their co-stars, including comedy titans Steve Zahn (The White Lotus), Zoe Chao (Senior Year), Tig Notaro (Army of the Dead), Jesse Williams (Grey's Anatomy) and Griffin Matthews. Additionally, Rachel Bloom, Shiri Appleby and Vella Lovell star in the movie as well.

The Rating

Romantic comedies have been experiencing a difficult patch lately, plagued with lazy scripts, unimpressive directing and lead actors who lack chemistry. Thankfully, every now and then we get lucky enough to witness something truly exceptional like writer-director Aline Brosh McKenna's Your Place or Mine with Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher in leading roles.

The film follows Debbie (Witherspoon) and Peter (Kutcher), who had a one-night stand two decades prior but have since become fiercely loyal friends even though they live on opposite coasts. She's a single mom living in Los Angeles, while he's a wealthy business consultant based out of New York.

Their platonic relationship has never wavered, and they remain close as ever. When she needs to take her son on a short trip to New York for an important class, he offers to fly her there and look after him while she's gone.

However, when they're together, both exhibit an awkward body language and it leaves viewers questioning if the duo actually get along. This is especially evident during the film's early moments where they spend most of their time together in a split-screen manner that feels unnatural.

Once the film reaches its midpoint, Brosh McKenna's direction begins to shine through. She can effectively focus on character chemistry while also adding other plot elements that might otherwise feel forced or unnatural.

Even so, Your Place or Mine isn't the greatest rom-com I've ever seen. It doesn't do much to revolutionize the genre or offer anything new when it comes to love stories.

Ultimately, the movie's greatest strength lies in the chemistry between Witherspoon and Kutcher. They both deliver pleasant performances, and there's an endearing ease to their conversation over the phone. Hopefully a more cohesive script will allow them to reunite for something much better next time around.

Reese Witherspoon Once Recapped Her Movies Entire Plot to Passengers When

Reese Witherspoon Once Recapped Her Movie's Entire Plot to Passengers When Flying

Reese Witherspoon once charmed fellow passengers on a plane with the full plot of her 2010 movie How Do You Know. She revealed this experience while promoting her Netflix rom-com, Your Place or Mine.

Starring Reese Witherspoon in the title role, this film follows a former softball player who gets cut from her national team and becomes embroiled in a love triangle between professional baseball player Owen Wilson and corporate executive Paul Rudd whose father has engaged in questionable business dealings.

How Do You Know?

On Late Night With Seth Meyers to promote her new film Your Place or Mine, Reese Witherspoon shared that during an appearance to promote her 2010 movie How Do You Know, she once regaled an entire plane with its entire story arc after the in-flight entertainment cut out during a flight.

Back then, most airlines didn't provide any in-flight entertainment beyond a preselected film for all passengers to watch. Unfortunately, these movies weren't usually very good, leaving everyone feeling quite bored on long flights.

Witherspoon had an unconventional plan when her movie cut out midway through, so she decided to recap the entire plot for everyone on board. She shared details about her character - a former softball player who gets cut from her team and must choose between two men in her life - with fellow passengers.

The movie How Do You Know stars Witherspoon as Lisa, a former softball player who gets dropped from her team after turning 31. She then becomes embroiled in an intense love triangle between herself, Owen Wilson (played by Owen Wilson), and Paul Rudd - a professional baseball player who happens to be her dad's client and also stars in the movie as himself.

Reese Witherspoon may not have made many great movies in a while, but she still manages to find humor wherever it goes. On NBC's "Late Night With Seth Meyers," Reese revealed that when her in-flight movie got stuck during takeoff, she told everyone on board about the plot of her forthcoming film.

It was actually quite humorous, making the experience for everyone on board much more enjoyable. Witherspoon explained her entire film's plot in three minutes and people seemed genuinely appreciative of it, she revealed.

Passengers is a romantic comedy, but not in the traditional sense. The movie follows two people as they embark on an intergalactic spaceship that will traverse space in 100 years. Lawrence wakes up too early and falls in love with Pratt who just so happens to be in her pod as well. But when Lawrence realizes her mistake, she falls head over heels for her pod too!

On a Plane

In the pre-small screen era, in-flight entertainment was limited to one preselected film played on a communal television. Reese Witherspoon, currently promoting her rom-com Your Place or Mine with Ashton Kutcher, told Late Night host Seth Meyers she once entertained an entire flight of passengers with the story arc of her 2010 romantic comedy How Do You Know. Starring Owen Wilson, Paul Rudd and Jack Nicholson as a former softball champion caught in a love triangle, Reese Witherspoon told Seth Meyers she once regaled an entire flight with its emotional arc.

Though many airlines now provide onboard television screens as standard cabin fare, it was still fun to imagine that a starship might land in your lap. Reese expressed her fondness for one particular scenario - being able to demonstrate her flying skills at an exclusive gala event. Although most of us will never get the chance to ride in a private jet, its experience can be priceless - and with careful planning you can have one without ever leaving home!

On a Train

Reese Witherspoon is no stranger to flying. She's been the star of several Oscar-winning films, such as Your Place or Mine and several documentaries for over three decades now. Although most of her adult life she's been in the passenger seat, there have been times when she has had to sit on the sidelines. On an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers this week, Witherspoon revealed her favorite memory was from an early morning flight back home from Hawaii after seeing the view from the windows during a long-distance flight.

On a Bus

Before there were mini screens attached to everyone's headrests, in-flight entertainment was often limited to pre-selected films shown on an airline's communal television screen. That's why Reese Witherspoon's revelation that she once entertained an entire plane full of strangers with the plot arc of her 2010 rom-com How Do You Know after its unexpected cutout during takeoff was such a shock.

On Tuesday, Witherspoon shared her experience on Seth Meyers with laughter. In a clip from her Late Night appearance to promote Her Place or Mine, which begins streaming on Netflix Friday, Witherspoon revealed she was on a five-hour flight during that time and the in-flight movie had stopped so she recapped its plot line to everyone in the cabin.

Witherspoon explained her character as a former softball player who gets cut from her team and must reevaluate her life. She becomes embroiled in an intense love triangle between two men -- Owen Wilson, a professional baseball player, and Paul Rudd, a corporate executive whose father Jack Nicholson has suspicious business dealings. In the end, it's up to Lisa to decide which one she wants -- or doesn't want.

Your Place or Mine Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher on Meeting Over

Your Place Or Mine: Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher on Meeting Over

For decades, Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher have been close friends. Despite living on opposite coasts, they communicate daily.

In Your Place or Mine, a Netflix movie coming soon, they swap homes for one week and get to know each other's lives through home exchange. Directed by Aline Brosh McKenna (Crazy Ex-Girlfriend), the film also stars Steve Zahn, Zoe Chao, Jesse Williams, Tig Notaro and Wesley Kimmel.

What’s the deal?

Witherspoon and Kutcher have considerable star power, yet they don't exactly fit the stereotype of rom-com duos. While they have starred in several high-profile romantic comedies (Legally Blonde, Sweet Home Alabama), as well as lending their captivating charisma to several television shows, their last big screen romance didn't pan out as planned.

They display plenty of chemistry in their new Netflix movie Your Place or Mine, which sees them exchange homes and lives for a week. Written and directed by Aline Brosh McKenna - who also wrote The Devil Wears Prada - the film follows them on this journey.

The film follows Debbie (Witherspoon) and Peter (Kutcher), best friends who have been together for 20 years. When Peter offers to watch over her son Jack while she goes off to LA for work, Debbie is not thrilled. But soon enough they realize there is more between them than just friendship when they stay at each other's homes.

Though the plot may be predictable, it's the performances that really make this movie shine. Witherspoon and Kutcher are an incredible duo that can do almost anything on screen; they bring to life writer-director Brosh McKenna's screwball patter with ease.

In Your Place or Mine, Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher star as a best friends-in-love who met via the Internet in the 1990s. Much like Tom and Meg in You've Got Mail, these longtime pals know everything about one another; but when they exchange their lives for a week, they begin to explore whether there may be more between them than just friendship.

When Witherspoon discovers a book written by her friend that contains letters she hasn't seen in years, she's shocked at how little she knows about her. So she decides to take action and attempt to have the book published.

Before she can take the leap, she must convince her best friend to follow suit - which won't be easy. Additionally, there are other potential partners such as Grey's Anatomy's Jesse Williams and Tig Notaro's Buddhist neighbor in New York (a Buddhist).

Brosh McKenna often seems to fill her cast with hot people, allowing their chemistry to shine through. But the rest of the film is quite good too - Witherspoon and Kutcher give their all to their characters in a tender performance that had me misty-eyed by the end.

The cast

Debbie (Reese Witherspoon) and Peter (Ashton Kutcher) exchange houses for a week, the chance to see into each other's lives may lead to romance.

'Your Place or Mine', written and directed by Aline Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada and 27 Dresses), stars Jesse Williams, Zoe Chao, Tig Notaro and Steve Zahn in leading roles.

Overall, the movie doesn't do enough to set itself apart from other rom-coms that have come and gone since the 2000s, although it does have some enjoyable moments. The characters - especially Witherspoon and Kutcher - possess enough chemistry for viewers to keep things interesting throughout.

Reese Witherspoon's character Debbie is a successful accountant and single mother of one. She and her son Jack reside in Los Angeles, while Kutcher's character Peter works as a book editor in New York City.

They may not share the same personality traits, but they work well together as a team. They have great chemistry and, when they face off in person, their relationship seems genuine.

There are also other characters in the cast. Zoe Chao stars as Minka, an ex-girlfriend of Peter who becomes a great friend for Debbie.

Chao has a number of notable TV credits, such as The White Lotus and Apple TV+'s original series The Afterparty. She also appears in 2022's Netflix original comedy Senior Year and Richard Linklater's Where'd You Go, Bernadette.

She won a Golden Globe for her performance in "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend," and was nominated for an Emmy Award the same year.

Overall, 'Your Place or Mine' doesn't stand out from other 'Your Place or Mine's that have come and gone since 2000s; however, it does contain some enjoyable moments. Witherspoon and Kutcher have enough chemistry to keep things interesting throughout the movie.

The story

Debbie (Reese Witherspoon) and Peter (Ashton Kutcher) decide to swap homes for a week, they discover how their lives have become more similar than they ever imagined.

Witherspoon and Kutcher have been a mainstay in the romantic comedy world since the early 2000s, but this is their first time working together. Written and directed by Aline Brosh McKenna, Your Place or Mine brings them back together after some time apart from television screens.

As best friends who live on opposite sides of the country, a lot is expected of them in this film. And for good reason: They've been through it all.

Your Place or Mine may not hit all the high notes of a typical rom-com, it definitely offers up plenty of humorous moments that will have you laughing throughout. In addition to its main leads, Your Place or Mine also features several standout performers from comedy superstar Steve Zahn as Zen the gardener; fellow school parent Tig Notaro; Griffin Matthews (The Flight Attendant); and Britney Young (GLOW).

Your Place or Mine features plenty of scenes that keep the movie moving forward, but with so many minor roles and little actual chemistry between its two leads, Your Place or Mine often feels like it could have been cut down to size.

When they're not talking on the phone, the duo rarely do anything particularly interesting. And even when they do, it's rarely enough to keep the film moving forward and create an engaging story arc.

In fact, it's difficult to detect any genuine chemistry between the duo that doesn't stem from their interactions with other characters. It doesn't feel like the script tries too hard, but rather that there aren't really any opportunities for them to create any of their own spark.

Your Place or Mine isn't a bad film, but it's far from one you'll want to revisit. Despite the charming performances from Witherspoon and Kutcher, the film never quite captures the chemistry that could have made this an enjoyable watch.

The ending

In Your Place or Mine, Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher portray best friends who spend a lot of time apart while pursuing different goals in life. Debbie (Witherspoon) lives in LA and devotes herself to caring for her son Jack; Peter (Kutcher) is an accounting student in New York who enjoys changing up his lifestyle.

As the story progresses, both friends come to realize they share more similarities than they initially thought. Peter begins to suspect there might be more going on between them than just a platonic relationship and starts feeling the fear of rejection more intensely than anything else.

The movie takes some creative approaches to romantic comedies, such as splitting the screen between its two leads and using hand-drawn titling on images to show where each character stands in their lives today. Unfortunately, it ends up being an utterly dull rom-com that does not add anything new to this genre.

Your Place or Mine does have some genuine laughs and heart. Jack and Peter's relationship is one of its strongest points, while supporting roles from Jesse Williams, Zoe Chao, Tig Notaro, and Wesley Kimmel give this rom-com plenty of charm.

At the end, Peter and Debbie reconnect over the phone for the first time in years, which is a touching touch. They share an engaging conversation that includes references to things they did together in the past as well as Peter's poker chip from their first date - something Peter keeps throughout all these years!

Peter and Debbie make a touching gesture, but it also opens up an important conversation about their feelings for one another. It's an inspiring scene that leaves you eager to see more of them together as it demonstrates that Peter and Debbie can still have the same intense affection even after two decades apart.

Debbie and Peter finally come to each other and declare their love with a kiss, one of the best parts of the movie even if it does feel somewhat anticlimactic and rushed at times.
