what is the name of the kingdom in tangled
In the movie Tangled, the kingdom in which Rapunzel grew up was called "The Kingdom of Corona".
With the government encouraging everyone to take social distancing measures in a bid to stem the spread of the virus, the unprecedented measures have reminded some of a similar situation - in the form of Disney’s Tangled. (Source: www.thenews.com.pk Noticing the strange coincidence, startling fans tweeted: “Remember the film Tangled? And how she was locked up in a castle?? AS IF the castle was called CORONA castle… shame we’re not living in a fairytale. I’d rather be locked up in a castle tbf.” (Source:www.thenews.com.pk))

Well playe“So the movie from Disney Tangled the girl is not allowed out of the castle. The kingdom is called Corona. Coincidence!! I don’t think so. I’m shook.” (Source:“Corona is an island kingdom and the birthplace of Rapunzel in Disney’s 2010 animated feature film, Tangled. Tangled came out over a decade ago, so only card-carrying members of the tinfoil hat brigade would see a real connection between the name of the kingdom in Tangled and the virus behind the COVID-19 pandemic. But instead of reminding people of the popular Mexican lager, the name of Rapunzel’s kingdom in Tangled now reminds them of the novel coronavirus despite the fact that the kingdom in Tangled predates SARS-CoV-2 by several years. (Source: www.fatherly.com “What was the name of the kingdom in Tangled?” was the most Googled question during a weekend in late March of last year. The first round of stay-at-home orders in the U.S. was less than a month old at this time, and it was only natural to wonder if Disney would change the Tangled town name in a sequel to Tangled because lots of people weren’t yet worried about keeping their jobs or paying rent or all of the other headache and heartache the pandemic would bring over the course of the next year. (Source:www.fatherly.com))
That the kingdom in Tangled is named Corona is an unfortunate coincidence and, strangely, it’s not the only one as many Twitter users have pointed out. Consider that Rapunzel’s lifestyle (solitary, in a tower without any way to access the outside world or breathe in its germs) is an ideal situation for someone trying to avoid contracting COVID-19. It’s social distancing of the height of a tower, which is much greater than the CDC-recommended six feet. (Source: www.fatherly.com)
But if Disney decides to keep “Corona,” as the name of the kingdom in Tangled, it will be for a good reason. The name was chosen in the first place because its meaning fit the movie, as another Twitter user pointed out. As it turns out, the word “corona” has an appropriate meaning for Tangled and the virus. (Source: www.fatherly.com If Disney ever makes Tangled 2 (a real one, the “Ever After” short doesn’t count), we wonder if they will rename the kingdom or if Rapunzel and Rider will conveniently move to another area, maybe Vaccineville or Maskopolis? In the Tangled: The Series episode "Queen for a Day", an old legend reveals that a demon known as Zhan Tiri had tried to destroy the kingdom with a curse powered snowstorm, as she bears a great hatred towards the kingdom. Before the film's release, its title was changed from Rapunzel to Tangled, reportedly to market the film gender-neutrally. (Source: en.wikipedia.org This article is about the 2010 film. (Source:en.wikipedia.org eTangled spent six years in production at a cost that has been estimated at $260 million, which, if accurate, would make it the most expensive animated film ever made and one of the most expensive films of all time. The film employed a unique artistic style by blending together features of computer-generated imagery (CGI) and traditional animation while using non-photorealistic rendering to create the impression of a painting. Composer Alan Menken, who had worked on prior Disney animated features, returned to score Tangled. (Source:n.wikipedia.org)))
$200 million of which was earned in the United States and Canada, making it the eighth highest-grossing film of 2010, and was praised by critics for its animation, writing, characters, and musical score. The film was nominated for a number of awards, including Best Original Song at the 83rd Academy Awards. The film was released on Blu-ray and DVD on March 29, 2011; a short film, Tangled Ever After, was released later in 2012 and a television series premiered in 2017. Tangled was released by Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment as a four-disc combo pack on March 29, 2011. The combo pack includes a Blu-ray 3D, standard Blu-ray, DVD, and digital copy. A two-disc Blu-ray/DVD combo pack and single DVD are also available. Bonus features for the Blu-ray include deleted scenes, two alternate opening sequences, two extended songs, and an inside look at how the film was made. The DVD includes only the two Original Storybook Openings and the 50th Animated Feature Countdown. (Source: en.wikipedia.org The film was made using computer-generated imagery (CGI), although Tangled was modeled on the traditional look of oil paintings on canvas. The Rococo paintings of French artist Jean-Honoré Fragonard, particularly The Swing, were used as references for the film's artistic style, a style described by Keane as "romantic and lush." Todd McCarthy, film reviewer for The Hollywood Reporter opened his review with, "It would have been nice if Disney's self-touted 50th animated feature were one of its best, a film that could stand with the studio's classics, but the world will have to make do with Tangled, a passably entertaining hodgepodge of old and new animation techniques, mixed sensibilities and hedged commercial calculations." (Source: en.wikipedia.org Rotten Tomatoes gives the film an approval rating of 89% based on 226 reviews and an average score of 7.50/10. The website's critical consensus is: "While far from Disney's greatest film, Tangled is a visually stunning, thoroughly entertaining addition to the studio's classic animated canon." (Source:en.wikipedia.org))
In order to market the film to both sexes and additional age groups, Disney changed the film's name from Rapunzel to Tangled while also emphasizing Flynn Rider, the film's prominent male character, showing that his story is just as important as Rapunzel's. (Source: en.wikipedia.org Unofficial logo of Rapunzel, before it was changed to Tangled. (Source:en.wikipedia.org))
Disney was criticized for altering the title as a marketing strategy. Floyd Norman, a former Disney and Pixar animator and story artist, said, "The idea of changing the title of a classic like Rapunzel to Tangled is beyond stupid. I'm convinced they'll gain nothing from this except the public seeing Disney as desperately trying to find an audience." (Source: en.wikipedia.org On November 24, 2010, the day of the film's release, directors Nathan Greno and Byron Howard disputed reports that the title change was a marketing decision. They said they changed the title from Rapunzel to Tangled because Rapunzel is not the only main character in the film. They went on to say that you cannot call Toy Story "Buzz Lightyear," and they really needed a title that represented what the film is, and that it's a duo, and it stars Rapunzel and Flynn Rider. (Source:en.wikipedia.org))
In March 2014, executive producer John Lasseter explained that Disney had changed the name to improve the film's appeal to the four quadrants: "There was an audience perception that these movies were just for little girls[,] but when boys, men, whatever actually see these movies[,] they like them. So on Rapunzel … we changed the name and we called it Tangled. We did marketing that made the people who would not normally show up say, 'Hey, this looks pretty good.'" (Source: en.wikipedia.org The film has been nominated for a number of awards. Hollywood Foreign Press Association nominated Tangled for two Golden Globe Awards, for Best Animated Feature Film and Best Original Song for "I See the Light", but lost to Toy Story 3 and Burlesque, respectively. Tangled Ever After is a short sequel released in 2012. The plot revolves around the wedding of Rapunzel and Eugene. Pascal and Maximus lose the wedding rings and chase after them, causing massive collateral damage along the way. (Source: en.wikipedia.org Tangled was also nominated for favorite film in the British Academy Children Awards for Favorite Film, competing against films like Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Parts 1 & 2, Transformers: Dark of the Moon, Cars 2, and Kung Fu Panda 2. In December 2014, Tangled's producer, Roy Conli, revealed that the production team had been "heavily pushed" for a feature-length sequel to the film, but when the writers and directors got together to develop one, they realized, "she cut her hair. It's over!" 2.1.6 Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure (2017–2020) (Source: en.wikipedia.org 2.1.5 Tangled: Before Ever After (2017) (Source:en.wikipedia.org eWalt Disney first attempted to adapt "Rapunzel" into an animated film soon after the studio released Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1937, but the project was ultimately abandoned when the story turned out to be "a really hard nut to crack". According to Keane, this was mainly due to the fact that the majority of the fairy tale takes place within a tower. To overcome this, Tangled's writers were forced to develop a way of "bringing Rapunzel out of the tower". (Source:n.wikipedia.org)))
Rapunzel first appears in Tangled as an infant princess who is born to a queen. Having inherited the healing abilities of a magical flower the ailing queen ingested while pregnant, the princess is kidnapped by a vain old woman named Mother Gothel, who uses her hair to remain young and beautiful. Gothel raises the princess in an isolated tower, from which Rapunzel sees the release of thousands of floating lanterns, unaware that these lanterns are actually the kingdom's way of remembering her. As her eighteenth birthday arrives, Rapunzel grows increasingly eager to leave the tower and see the floating lanterns, and blackmails a wanted thief named Flynn Rider to take her there in her mother's absence. However, Gothel soon learns of Rapunzel's disobedience and pursues them, hiring a pair of thieves to incapacitate Flynn. (Source: en.wikipedia.org Upon joining the cast of Tangled, Moore was initially unaware that the film was slated to be Walt Disney Animation Studios' 50th animated feature film. Since that time, she has received her ignorance with gratitude, explaining, "I feel lucky because I would've probably felt a bit more pressure had I known going into the recording process." Rapunzel is adjusting to her new life as princess of Corona six months after the events of Tangled. Rapunzel's coronation is set to happen in a few days. Her father restricts her freedom, prepared to not lose his daughter once more. In the middle of all this stress, on the night of the royal banquet, Eugene publicly proposes to Rapunzel, but she rejects it, feeling she is not sure if she is interested to stay at the palace after marriage and that she needs to sort out her life first. On that night, she is sneaked out from the kingdom by her lady-in-waiting, Cassandra, so that she can get her mind off her problems. When Cassandra shows her the place where the mystical golden flower that saved her mother and herself was found, she touches one of the mystical rock spikes that started to sprout around a year ago, causing her 70 feet long blonde hair to grow back, and possessing new abilities. The story continues as she is confronted by a known enemy of the kingdom on her coronation day, and is forbidden to leave the walls of Corona without her father's consent. In her bedchamber, Rapunzel is determined to fill her journal with her own adventures, and solve the mystery of her hair's miraculous return. (Source: en.wikipedia.org)
And, of course, the heart of the story is Rapunzel, a freshly minted heroine who morphs from prisoner to strong-willed seeker of her own destiny. Blondes have not had a good rap of late, thanks chiefly to the stream of formulaic rom-coms that have played them up as the ditzes and airheads of cliché. Rapunzel's no-nonsense attitude and proactive air, however, reminds us that the blondes of yore were not to be trifled with. As reimagined in Tangled, Rapunzel defies authority, shuts down male ego and charts her own course. She's not only a great role model for kids, she's the type of gutsy, independently minded, value-added blonde Mae West would have been proud of. (Source: en.wikipedia.org)
