Okay… well, Mr. Smith, in my defense, I just said “this one goes out to you” because your column inspired me to write my article. I promise I will not stoop to the level of the commenters on your article, and I will not make fun of the fact you repeatedly say “use to be” instead of “used to be” in your article and on your Twitter. Here’s what I fired back.

“I fully understand where LeBron James is coming from right there,” Smith began in a video shared on his Twitter account. “And I respect that man immensely for what he had to say because we know the shameful history this country has with what was essentially medical experimentation on Black folks. I understand wanting to keep medical issues private. I was right there with LeBron on this, but let me be straight with you on something. In the interest of full disclosure, after long, hard thought, spanning the last few months, I’ve decided that I’m getting the COVID-19 vaccine.” (Source: www.sportscasting.com)

“When you talk about an audience gravitating to the tube or to the ballpark to actually watch you, I don’t think it helps that the number one face is a dude that needs an interpreter so you can understand what the hell he’s saying,” Smith, a former Inquirer sports columnist, said to First Take cohost Max Kellerman. VERY little mention of Iverson's daughter, which is the REAL issue here. God Bless his family and I hope his daughter is okay. At this time, I don't even want to think about Iverson's career or anything dealing with NON issues. His daughter is very ill, its obvious, so lets just show our support for a guy instead of talking about his skills on the court. Its a disgrace that nobody even has a soul enough to see the real problem here, it has nothing to do with the 76ers, Iverson's abilities or anything else, it has to do with a man's family right now.

“If you are a sport trying to ingratiate yourself with the American public the way Major League baseball is because of the problems you’ve been having to deal with in terms of improving the attractiveness of the sport, it helps that if you spoke the English language,” Smith said. “It doesn’t mean anything more than that.” “I fully understand where LeBron James is coming from right there,” Smith began in a video shared on his Twitter account. “And I respect that man immensely for what he had to say because we know the shameful history this country has with what was essentially medical experimentation on Black folks.
