What began as a small gem of a spot with a small walkway and gate became such a bustling scene of people and planes, even appearing on Atlanta’s Wild Wing Café’s most Instagrammed hangouts. The terminal itself is now shaped like an actual wing, seen flying across the sky at the airport.

ATL operates from 2 terminals — the domestic terminal on the west side of the airport and the international terminal located on the east side. The domestic terminal is further split into north and south, with Delta solely occupying the south terminal, and the north terminal serving other airlines.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is one of the world's busiest airports, with tens of millions of passengers traveling through its terminals every year. Located south of downtown Atlanta, Georgia, the airport offers flights to 150 domestic and 75 international destinations, with an average of 2,700 arrivals and departures every day. The airport is expansive — the terminal complex covers more than 150 acres and has a total of 192 gates — so it can be overwhelming for both seasoned and first-time fliers. Because it's one of the world's busiest hubs, you'll want to arrive early to get through check-in and security lines and allow plenty of time for your layover (especially if you are traveling internationally). Whether you're at ATL for a layover or starting your journey here, we've rounded up the most important information to know before visiting the Atlanta airport, starting with an Atlanta airport map. If you are traveling internationally, remember that U.S. citizens and permanent residents returning to the U.S. by air will need to show a negative COVID-19 test or documentation of recovery from COVID-19 before boarding. The CDC lays out specific requirements on its webpage for international travel. Before your trip, check also for travel restrictions for countries you will be entering. Delta has an interactive map to show travel requirements for different destinations. Southwest lists on its website its destinations with operational restrictions. The CDC also has travel health notices for different countries and the State Department issues country-specific travel advisories. (Source: www.ajc.com)
