Jrue Holiday to Miss Start of Season As Pregnant Wife Lauren Holiday Faces Brain Surgery

Jrue and Lauren Holiday are expecting the birth of their first child, a daughter, this fall before Lauren undergoes surgery to remove a benign tumor from her brain. Jrue is the starting point guard for the New Orleans Pelicans and is expected to miss the start of the upcoming regular season to serve as caretaker for his wife and newborn. Lauren Cheney Holiday – Angel City Fc

Lauren Cheney Holiday is a former member of the US women’s national soccer team. Holiday was a member of the 2008 and 2012 Olympic gold medalist and 2015 Women’s World Cup championship teams. She was named US Soccer Female Athlete of the Year in 2014. Holiday played for the Boston Breakers and FC Kansas City in the NWSL and is the first player in NWSL history to have her jersey retired. Holiday played collegiate soccer at UCLA, where she was a First-Team All-American all four years. Holiday and her husband Jrue met at UCLA and were married in 2013.

Lauren Nicole Holiday (née Cheney; born September 30, 1987), is an American retired professional soccer player who played as a midfielder and forward for the United States women's national soccer team from 2007 to 2015. She is a two-time Olympic gold medalist and FIFA Women's World Cup champion.

Two-time Olympic gold medalist winning gold with the national team at the2008 Beijing Summer Olympics and the 2012 London Summer Olympics. She also played in the 2011 and 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup. She previously played for the Boston Breakers in the WPS and collegiate soccer for the UCLA Bruins
