In sixth grade, Newman averaged 17 points per game. On December 19, 2012, Newman featured in an article on high school sports website MaxPreps, titled, "Fifth grader starting for Florida varsity team." What’s Next for Newman?

Right now, Newman’s next steps are somewhat unclear. Almost a year later, he has still yet to commit to playing for an overseas team nor a college.

"You kind of heard about Lonzo in high school, but they weren't really famous until LaVar started talking," Jamie says. "The Balls got famous because of LaVar. Julian and Jaden got famous because of themselves—because of their basketball abilities. Julian has been around since the fifth grade, and Jaden's been around since the third grade.
