On January 15, 2014, the Jerry Falwell Library opened its doors to the academic community of Liberty University. The health benefits and salary are fairly decent for Lynchburg and there are yearly opportunities for promotion. Opportunities for upwards mobility withing Liberty University. This isn't a long term sustainable job. Sometimes it feels like you are being micromanaged since your screen is being monitored all day long, your phone calls with students are randomly listened to and graded to make sure you are hitting all the points of Liberty's call script. Your hours for the first or second year for be the closing shift from 11pm-8pm on Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, and one Saturday a month not including mandatory overtime around August. As admissions counselors we are limited on being able to bring up certain promotions that Liberty University has made affiliations with in order to product our bottom line, when what is truly best for the student might be a more cost friendly option. The 170,000-square-foot building holds more than 500,000 books in addition to electronic collections. A robot-assisted storage system allows for electronic browsing of titles as well as previewing text prior to selection of print material. Liberty University estimates that the book storage and robotic retrieval system occupies 7% of the library, while 67% is reserved for collaborative meeting areas and student study spaces. As President Falwell spoke, he recalled his father’s vision and celebrated his faith and endurance in seeing it to fruition.

Godwin shared personal stories from the decades he labored alongside Dr. Falwell to create what is now the world’s largest Christian university. He recalled how Dr. Falwell would often stop and count the amazing victories the Lord provided for the university and challenged the Liberty family to carry on that spirit of joy and gratitude.
