Decided on this place for brunch with the girls after reading several reviews, but we were super disappointed. They have a very big menu and lots to choose from. The appetizers were the best part of the meal. The drinks were pretty, but tasted like only a spoonful of alcohol was added. This was my first time dining at Grand Lux Cafe this past Saturday. A friend of mine had her birthday dinner here. She called about two weeks ago and asked if they were accepting large parties. She was told yes, but couldn't make a reservation. She was told someone had to get there early and they would accommodate the party. So she got there early and there was still a wait. According to multiple sources with knowledge of the restaurant's plans but who spoke to ToNeTo Atlanta on condition of anonymity, Grand Lux will reopen Thursday January 21. It's unclear what prompted the restaurant to remain closed as long as they did given that other eateries had reopened or what the motivation is behind their late January reopening. That said, the reopening will surely be welcome news to mall owner SIMON who owns not only Phipps Plaza and neighboring Lenox Square but dozens of other malls and centers around the country.
