Georgia Allen is a Newport Beach, CA-based blogger. She is the founder of a new blog, HBA Pottery & Cake. As the first and editor-in-chief of the magazine, her approach is to provide content more than just through blog posts, patterns and tutorials and to build community around the work that she is offering. Her blog is dedicated to not only tutorials and patterns, but to personal and professional development, productivity, and DIY.


Georgia Allen, 81, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 23, 2019 at her home in Jay, OK with her family by her side. Georgia was born on April 26, 1938 in Augusta, GA to her parents, George Merritt and Ollie Agerton-Merritt. Georgia graduated from Richmond Academy High School, Augusta Georgia . Georgia met the love of her life, Gene Allen in Augusta, Georgia. They settled down and started their family and had their two lovely children, Rhonda and Randy. After moving back to the Jay area, Georgia played an integral part in establishing the family farm. Georgia and Gene loved to travel. They traveled all over the United States together in their RV. They would follow friends or meet their friends at gatherings listening to Country and Gospel Music at various venues. Georgia’s family was her World, especially her grandchildren. Their family get togethers were priceless to her. She also loved her church family. She was a member of Mount Hermon Church of Jay, OK for over 55 years and was their piano musician for many years. Georgia would share her musical gift on the piano at church and funerals. She worked over 20 years at the Delaware County Courthouse in the County Clerk Office, Assessors Office and the Treasurers Office. The Lord called our beautiful Georgia Home to her Eternal Heavenly Life and we will miss her dearly. We have comfort in knowing that one day we will be reunited with her, and spend eternity together forever. Georgia is preceded in death by her parents, George and Ollie Merritt. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Gene Allen of Jay. OK; 2 children, Rhonda Palm and husband Carl of Jay, OK, Randy Allen and wife Mindy of Jay, OK; 4 grandchildren, Kali Ward and husband Jason of Jay, OK, Chad Palm and wife Danielle of Tulsa, OK, Miranda Ward and husband Henry of Grove, OK, Cassie Hampton and husband Ben of Grove, OK; 9 great-grandchildren, Emigail and Lydia Barnes, Jovylin, Payton Ward, Blakely Palm, Gweneth and Locklyn Ward, Evy and John Allen Hampton; sister, Adele Webb of Shawnee, OK; 2 nieces, Linda Wing and husband Doug of Norman, OK, Donna Derickson of Chelsea, OK; 1 nephew, Steve Webb of Shawnee, OK; her precious fur baby, Mitzi; extended family and friends. Georgia’s family visitation to greet friends will be held from 5:00pm – 7:00pm, Thursday, December 26, 2019 at Lawson’s Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 311 W. Gray St., Jay, OK 74346. Georgia’s Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held on Friday, 1:00pm, December 27, 2019 at Mount Hermon Church, Jay, OK with Pastor Jeremy Colvard Officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hermon Cemetery, Jay, OK. Arrangements are entrusted to and under the direction of Lawson’s Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 311 W. Gray, St., Jay, OK 74346, Shaunda J. Lawson, Owner/Funeral Director and Staff.

Georgia Allen joined the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School in 2014. In addition to serving as chief information officer at the School, she is responsible for the strategic management of technology teams and initiatives supporting application and website development, instructional design and consultation, infrastructure and technical support. She is accountable for the fiscal and operational success of the department. Prior to joining the School, Allen was the assistant dean of information technology at the UNC School of Government where she served as the chief technology officer and was responsible for the operational direction of the IT Division. She was also the assistant director of information technology for the university library at Florida Gulf Coast University, and she has served as a technology consultant in the corporate sector. She holds a bachelor's degree in Communications and master's in Public Administration. She is also a Certified Government Chief Information Officer from the UNC Center for Public Technology. Georgia has been a featured speaker at several local, regional, and national conferences on topics ranging from strategic IT management to developing collaborative partnerships with faculty. Adams Allen Adams served as a U.S. Army medic during Operation Desert Storm. He has master's degrees in public administration and higher educationBorn January 31, 1909 in Braxton, West Virginia, she was the eldest of six children born to Opha and Mary Myrtle Runion Stover. She raised three children born of her marriage to the late Fred S.

Moore. Fred C. Moore and Joseph Moore who preceded her in death, and Mollie Moore who lives in Wilton, CT. Her second husband, Si Allen preceded her in death. Three sisters survive her, Nellie Hartley of Columbus, Leola Guthrie of Athens, and Glenna Collura of Columbus. The family tree includes seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
