Five Nights at Freddy's

In the videogame Five Nights at Freddy's, you are a night security guard at a haunted pizza place trying to survive five nights against the animatronic characters that function as the "Freddy" in the title. On your first night, you must watch four monitors at once and fend off an animatronic that takes form in front of the final one. The more time the animatronic spends in front of you, the more damage it does before you can turn off its power source.

Five Nights at Freddy's (FNaF) is an American media franchise created by Scott Cawthon. It began with the 2014 video game of the same name and has since gained worldwide popularity. (Source:en.wikipedia.org)

There's only one rule in this twisted world: Play nice or play fallen. When night falls, no one is safe as monsters, animatronics, and other terrors wait to jump out at you. So, play with caution.

“But here on the seventh anniversary of the first game’s trailer, as I realize that I was in my mid-30s when I created the series and now I’m approaching my mid-40s, I realize that I miss a lot of things that I got to focus on before FNAF became such a success. I miss making games for my kids, I miss doing it just for fun, and I missing making rpgs even though I stink at it. All of this is to say that I am retiring. I have been shown tremendous love and support over this last week, a lot of which has come from the LGBTQ community. The kindness shown to me has been surreal.” (Source: www.polygon.com)

Wait – Is this a list of what you should know about Five Nights at Freddy's?

Five Nights at Freddy's received positive reviews from critics. Indie Game Magazine praised Five Nights at Freddy's for its simple take on the horror genre, noting that its artistic direction and gameplay mechanics contributed to a feeling of "brutal tension" only worsened by how a player may be familiar with similar restaurants such as Chuck E. Cheese's, and that "it's an incredibly terrifying experience to try to save yourself from the single jump scare that ends the game." (Source:freddy-fazbears-pizza.fandom.co)

The game is popular today for its simplicity. You are in a small room and your only goal is to keep from getting killed by one of Freddy Fazbear's metal-faced friends. The only means of saving yourself is to hide in a nearby locker for for the shorter time than it takes for your hunter to catch up with you. The game is only made possible by two buttons near the bottom right of the screen - one for opening doors, and the other to close them.
