Bringing a life-long companion, whether it be a cat, dog, or a fish, can be a rewarding experience. Think about the things that you enjoy doing and help others by doing them yourself, while enjoying another living thing. Pet ownership may be an easy choice but it is an important one. Find your perfect pet today, before that perfect pet comes along.Find a pet in your local area today and fall in love! When you're stuck in a boring meeting, you can ask a friend to find you a pet. Just say "find a pet for me, PLEASE". Mrs. English is loving all these speeches about waste and the office so, for now, we're the best pets that are in the dumpster.

If an animal has been in our care ten days or less, the adoption fee is $50. If the animal has been in our care more than ten days, the adoption fee is $30. In addition to the adoption fee, the sterilization fee for a dog is $50 and $40 for a cat and the microchip fee is $15 (includes national registration). Additional charges may include fees for licensing (for those living within our service areas) or pain medication (dependent on whether the animal needed to be spayed/neutered). Please see our home page for promotions and discounts on adoption fees. Animals at WAIF animal adoption facilities in Coupeville (dogs and cats), Freeland (cats only), Oak Harbor (cats only) are either unclaimed strays or owned animals surrendered for adoption. All animals go through a set waiting period. In the case of stray animals, the waiting period, which is five days for Island County and for the city of Oak Harbor, allows the owner a chance to find their pet. If a surrendered animal, WAIF will endeavor to secure as much information on the animal as is possible. Regardless, whether a surrender or stray, the waiting period allows WAIF the opportunity to assess the animal for temperament and health and to ensure their suitability for adoption. Not all pets are approved for adoption. Please view our adoption guidelines if you are considering adoption of a WAIF shelter animal.
