Bealls Outlet

Bealls Outlet is a popular private-label store that you've probably seen around the mall. They sell affordable inventory for a very low price, with a focus on popular brands you've seen elsewhere like Adidas, Nike and Reebok. But Bealls Outlet takes it a step further and offers customers what they call "exclusive access" to some of the deepest discounts on their inventory.

Store

Bealls Outlet is a privately held company, owned by the founding family and its employees. The Outlet began in 1987 as the idea of E.R. Beall, son of Bealls Department store founder, Robert M. Beall, Sr. The new chain opened as Bealls Outlets in Florida with three locations, quickly adding more across the state, as well as 2 new locations in Arizona. In 1998 the Bay Minette, AL, store was introduced under the Bealls name, and now Bealls Outlet stores serve communities in 13 states from Nevada to Virginia.

Bealls Florida was not affiliated with the Texas-based Bealls chain formerly owned by Stage Stores, although the two overlapped in some markets. Bealls Outlet uses the Burkes Outlet name where there was overlap. However, on October 21, 2020, Bealls bought Stage's intellectual property for $7 million, as part of Stage's winding-down of its operations after that company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in May of that year. In doing so, the Florida chain acquired the rights to use the Bealls name nationwide; previously, it was only able to use the name in Florida, Georgia, and Arizona. Bealls also acquired the rights to the Stage, Gordmans, Goody's, Palais Royal and Peebles names, all of Stage's private label brands and customer lists, and a distribution center in Jacksonville, Texas.
