Atlanta Country Club

The Atlanta Country Club, a beautiful dome-like structure and one of the South's finest clubs, is just a short drive from the city. It's a private club and the difference in price between memberships reflects this. The price is over $100,000 for the least expensive social membership and $350,000 for members with children. There is parking for cars and golf carts, and a children’s club for members and their children.

Course

While exceptional golf is the essence of the Atlanta Country Club, we are so much more. Founded in 1964, the club members enjoy excellent golf, fine dining, a full-service fitness center, an Olympic size swimming pool, and social events. The golf course is located on picturesque rolling hills and Sope Creek, surrounded by historic Civil War sites. For over 50 years, Atlanta Country Club has reflected the traditions of golf, making it an extraordinary place its members can truly call a home away from home.

For over a decade, the most spirited debate in golf was over who really designed the really fine Atlanta Country Club. Both Willard Byrd of Atlanta and Joseph S. Finger of Houston claimed the honor. Both lobbied Golf Digest hard for the architectural credit, but neither provided much supporting documentation. Both architects are deceased now, and from what we can piece together, Byrd landed the original contract in the early 1960s, but was still more land-planner than course architect in those days, so the club brought in Finger to finish the job. We give them both credit for this hilly, strategic design, a solution neither architect would likely have accepted. (Source: www.golfdigest.com)

Play

Our membership is one big family—where bonds of camaraderie and community are forged while having the time of your life. At ACC events, members dress up, dress down, or dress to play. With a variety of special occasions created for opportunities to participate, learn, volunteer, and spend time together.

Originally a rotating event, it relocated in 1982 to its present home TPC at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. The Atlanta Classic was not played in 1976 because the U.S. Open was at Atlanta Athletic Club. (Source: en.wikipedia.org)
