FutureStarrStarbucks' New Line of Coffee Beverages Has a Spoonful of Olive Oil in Each One
Starbucks is adding olive oil to their line of coffee beverages, and these will be available to customers in Italy this week. According to Starbucks, the new collection will also be released in other markets around the world later this year.
Oleato is a line of three beverages that incorporate Partanna cold pressed extra virgin olive oil with Starbucks' arabica coffee. Available options include a latte, espresso shaken with ice and cold brew.
Starbucks, the coffee chain that made Frappuccino famous, is debuting a new drink: Oleato. Their Oleato line of beverages will be available at Starbucks shops worldwide beginning this week in Italy and the United States by early spring.
The coffee chain has joined forces with Partanna, a Sicilian olive oil company, to craft an exclusive blend of high-quality Nocellara del Belice (also known as Castelvetrano) olives from Partanna and Starbucks Arabica coffee. The drinks are then infused with the olive oil for an irresistibly smooth and unique taste - perfect for your morning cup of joe!
Interim CEO Howard Schultz was inspired by a trip to Italy last year, where he experienced the Mediterranean custom of drinking an extra virgin olive oil with their coffee. Upon returning home, he asked his beverage team in Seattle how to make this refreshing beverage even tastier.
He came up with about 12 options, which the team ultimately settled on three: an oat milk latte with olive oil; an ice shaken espresso featuring oat milk and hazelnut flavor; and an iced cortado featuring these same flavors. These beverages will be available at Starbucks Italian cafes as well as Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Milan.
This oat milk latte features Partanna cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil blended into the steamed oatmilk to create a velvety-smooth froth. It's paired with Starbucks blonde Espresso Roast and finished off with golden foam for extra enjoyment.
Though not the first time fat has been added to coffee, adding olive oil is a relatively recent development that makes these drinks stand out.
Starbucks' Oleato latte features olive oil infused into their sweet milk foam, then topped off with hazelnut flavoring and an oat milk layer. The latter is thicker than usual to give it more substance; it has a subtle saltiness and slightly sweet taste that doesn't overpowering you.
Meanwhile, both iced cortado and espresso martinis are topped with a drizzle of oat milk, while the latter also features a scoop of oat milk plus hazelnut flavoring. It's quite sweet to enjoy this combination of oat milk and olive oil together - perhaps too sweet for my liking.
Starbucks has taken the concept of mixing olive oil and coffee to a whole new level. On Tuesday, they unveiled an array of drinks featuring an added spoonful of olive oil.
On February 22nd, Italy will launch their line of beverages; then Southern California followed shortly thereafter. They are also set for release later this year in Japan, the Middle East and the United Kingdom.
Starbucks has been making changes to their menu periodically over the years, but this marks their first time trying something like this, according to Brady Brewer, Starbucks' chief marketing officer.
He noted the company has been experimenting with adding ingredients such as CBD or turmeric to certain drinks, but this is an innovative twist on the concept. The olive oil in Oleato Espresso comes from Partanna - a cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil made with a blend specifically developed for this drink line by Starbucks.
Schultz was inspired to try the combination of olive oil and coffee after visiting Sicily this summer, where he learned about the tradition of drinking a tablespoon of olive oil daily. So he asked his staff to create a new product that incorporates this olive oil into Starbucks' signature arabica coffee.
Over four months of development at Starbucks, their team tested more than 100 different combinations. After extensive testing in-store and at company headquarters, they ultimately selected three main drinks to launch in stores and online.
The result is Oleato Espresso, a cold coffee made with Blonde Espresso Roast and oat milk infused with Partanna olive oil. According to the company, it's velvety smooth and rich with just a hint of sweetness.
In addition to espresso, Oleato also offers several other drinks in their line. One unique beverage is the Oleato Deconstructed, featuring passion fruit cold foam. Another is the Oleato Golden Foam Cold Brew, lightly sweetened with vanilla syrup and topped off with golden foam infused with olive oil.
At Starbucks in New York, I was amazed by how the olive oil-infused cold foam looked -- it had a pale green tinge and formed as an airy layer atop of the shaken espresso and cortado. So much so, that when I ordered another of it as well!
Starbucks' latest coffee beverages contain an added spoonful of olive oil. The company plans to start rolling out these drinks at locations in Italy this week and Southern California later this spring before expanding further into Japan, the Middle East and the United Kingdom.
Starbucks' Oleato line of coffees are infused with Partanna extra virgin olive oil, a carefully curated blend of premium olive oils from around the Mediterranean region. When this oil is combined and skillfully infused into each drink, customers are delighted by an unexpected smoothness and delicious flavor they won't soon forget, according to Starbucks.
Oleato Caffe Latte (Starbucks Blonde Espresso Roast with Oat Milk and Partanna Olive Oil) is a velvety-rich latte that offers layers of flavor from hazelnuts and rich espresso. Available at Starbucks Reserve Roastery locations in Milan as well as other stores nationwide, this beverage can be enjoyed.
Customers can customize select drinks with Partanna extra virgin olive oil as a customization, which will infuse into the latte or shaken into an iced espresso. Golden Foam is another available customization and can be added as a topping to hot or cold beverages such as Oleato caffe latte.
Starbucks has for the first time added olive oil to their coffee, creating a custom cup of espresso that CEO Howard Schultz saw while visiting Italy last summer.
The Oleato line of coffees was inspired by a family custom in some parts of Italy to enjoy an extra spoonful of olive oil every day. That prompting Schultz and his team to explore ways to make that experience simpler and more enjoyable, according to Brewer.
They eventually discovered Partanna, an Italian company that has been making premium extra virgin olive oil for over 100 years. Through Partanna they were able to craft a blend of high-quality Nocellara del Belice olives from Sicily that would enhance Starbucks coffee perfectly.
Oleato is a new line of coffee beverages from Starbucks that features an added spoonful of olive oil. This departure from their standard offerings allows customers to customize their cup's experience with coffee - giving it their own personal touch!
Olive oil can also help customers improve their health, since it contains lots of antioxidants and other beneficial nutrients for the body. Furthermore, people can reduce caffeine consumption which has an adverse effect on health and energy levels.
Starbucks reports that Oleato was born out of outgoing CEO Howard Schultz's trip to Sicily last year, where he was introduced to the Mediterranean custom of taking a spoonful of olive oil with their coffee. This experience spurred him on to devise a way for coffee enthusiasts around the world to easily add olive oil to their drinks.
At present, the new line is only available at Starbucks locations in Italy but will eventually expand to markets worldwide, starting with Southern California this spring. Japan, the Middle East and the United Kingdom will follow shortly thereafter.
The drinks are infused with a "press," which is simply another word for spoonful of olive oil, that will be steamed, shaken or blended into select beverages like espresso and tea lattes. Plus, the coffee chain has just launched an espresso martini made with Partanna extra virgin olive oil and vodka that's topped off with vanilla bean syrup and golden foam.
Olive oil has become increasingly popular in food recipes recently, but it's only recently been introduced to coffee. Its many benefits are well known - such as helping you lose weight, increasing energy levels, decreasing heart disease risks and strengthening immunity - but why not add it to your morning cup of joe?
Furthermore, olive oil helps you combat the risk of type 2 diabetes by keeping your blood sugar levels balanced and avoiding insulin spikes or drops. Furthermore, its antioxidant properties may even protect you against certain cancers and other illnesses.

Nicki Minaj recently unveiled her vibrant Carnival outfit. This intricate teal and purple ensemble, complete with feathers, was designed by her mas band Tribe and includes a jeweled corset as well.
The 37-year-old rapper was back home in Trinidad and Tobago for the annual two-day carnival event. This cultural showcase is known for its vibrant costumes, live music, and nonstop dancing.
Nicki completed her ensemble with a feathered headpiece. While it may not be as extravagant as Lady Gaga's Philip Treacy hat from last week's London Fashion Week, it still looks impressive.
Minaj's headdress may lack much color or jewel-encrusted accents, but it still features wild turkey feathers and what some believe to be eagle feathers (which are sacred to Native peoples). While this feathered accessory may have been meant to represent her home country, Indigenous media has expressed outrage at its appropriation of cultural traditions.
No matter her motivations, the headpiece is certainly making a statement. She has shared several photos and videos from her trip on social media, with fans loving the way it looks in a carnival outfit.

Plus, there are plenty of patterned tights that you can layer over short-length garments like mini dresses or leather skirts to achieve an edgy aesthetic.
No matter your personal style, fishnet tights will add an unexpected flair to your wardrobe. Wear them for work or casual commuting; these subtle accessories add a stylish flair that you won't find elsewhere.
Fishnet tights are the ideal accessory for any special occasion. You can pair them with any top or dress, and even pair them up with boots!
For a more relaxed, casual style, pair your tights with jeans or tuck your denim into a short skirt. Additionally, black fishnets can be worn with leather pencil skirts or mini dresses.
One of the major advantages of attending Caribbean Carnivals is their promotion of body positivity and acceptance. This movement has helped break down many societal barriers and negative stereotypes regarding weight and beauty, which often leave women feeling unwelcome in their figures.
You'll have access to a wide range of costumes suitable for the festivities, so you can pick one that's just right. Make sure your costume fits properly and allows you to move freely during the dance.
Nicki Minaj is known for her bright neon colors and unique style of mixing and matching fun wigs with her outfits. Nicki always manages to pull off looks that turn heads wherever she goes - no wonder why!

Nicki Minaj has long been associated with Giuseppe Zanotti, wearing their signature heels and boots as well as quoting them in her songs. Despite this, Nicki has never officially collaborated with the brand on a shoe collection.
Now, she is taking action by publicly launching a campaign to demand Zanotti design a shoe with her name on it. According to reports, the company is refusing her calls and she wants them to adjust their policy accordingly.
Nicki Minaj fans rejoice! A rare sneaker connoisseur has spotted the Barbie-approved colorway of her 2014 Air Jordan 6 sneaker that she wore in her music video for "Anaconda." This ultra-rare "Pinkprint" Sample showcases vibrant pink shades inspired by Minaj's third studio album.
These kicks boast a white leather base with hot pink ombre effect that fades to light purple as you get closer to the heel. Furthermore, there's an embroidered album cover logo and Nicki Minaj's signature pink fingerprint on the back of the shoe's heel.
State health officials in several counties across New Jersey are employing medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to assist incarcerated individuals who struggle with substance use disorders. Addressing addiction while in prison is seen as an integral component of the public health response to New Jersey's opioid epidemic.
The state's corrections department is providing $1.7 million to ten counties for mental health programs. Camden County Jail is among those receiving funds to increase access to MAT treatments.
On Tuesday, White House National Drug Control Policy director Rahul Gupta announced a groundbreaking drug treatment policy from Camden County Jail that is set to be replicated across all federal correctional facilities. This program, modeled on what works at Camden County Jail, allows states to apply for waivers allowing medication-assisted treatment 90 days before inmates are released.
State prisons will now have greater freedom to treat inmates with opioid use disorder, an issue which has claimed 47 lives between 2019 and 2021. Previously, inmates needed outside providers' approval before receiving Suboxone - an opioid-abuse treatment which helps prevent overdoses - for their prescriptions.
According to the Biden administration, expanding addiction treatment in federal correctional facilities is essential for combatting the opioid crisis. According to federal data, 85% of those incarcerated have an active substance use disorder. By offering these individuals access to care, Gupta told Bloomberg Law, they can save lives, cut costs and make communities safer.
He states that the federal government, which has an obligation to provide substance abuse treatment to inmates, can use "Medicaid funds to supplement in-house medically assisted treatment for (inmates)." Furthermore, the Bureau of Prisons will provide training for prison staff members so they can administer drugs like Suboxone and Narcan - drugs which reverse opioid overdoses - effectively.
Gupta noted that the policy allows states to provide inmates with counseling and other social services while they're behind bars, with the purpose of reducing recidivism rates and reintegrating them back into society.
Ensure humane prison conditions, including eliminating solitary confinement. The Biden administration will guarantee states do not use solitary confinement to isolate inmates who have committed violent crimes. Moreover, it requires them to address environmental health problems in jails like dirty air and water.
Fund public defender offices to guarantee defendants access quality counsel, even if they can't afford it. Doing so will guarantee those facing serious criminal charges don't have to go without representation.
Stop jailing people who cannot afford to pay fines and fees, as well as those who revoke their drivers' licenses. This poses a major hurdle for many, particularly those unemployed or living in poverty.
Camden County Jail is one of a few jails in America to offer medication-assisted treatment for opioid addiction. When inmates sign up for treatment and demonstrate they have substance abuse problems, they can receive medications to control cravings and reduce the risk of overdose or relapse when released.
State health officials have made combatting addiction in prison a top priority, expanding treatment programs at two jails and planning to launch one at the 65-bed Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women in Hunterdon County this spring.
MAT, or medication-assisted treatment, is a proven treatment that utilizes prescription drugs to curb cravings and other addictive behaviors. Studies have demonstrated that it helps those with substance use disorders avoid overdose and decrease their likelihood of relapse after release from prison or jail, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
At Camden County Jail, all new inmates receive a medical evaluation which includes an assessment for addiction and alcohol abuse. If they consent to treatment, inmates receive an on-site screening and can begin taking buprenorphine, naltrexone, as well as Sublocade injections right away.
Some inmates may receive Vivitrol, an extended-release one-a-month injection that helps them prevent relapse. The program is part of the overall effort to combat the opioid epidemic that has claimed at least 3,000 New Jersey residents this year.
The program at Camden County Jail is modeled after a successful model developed in New York and now spread throughout the U.S. It's called "stay'n out," created through collaboration between New York's Department of Corrections, Gateway Foundation and other nonprofit organizations.
A major goal of the program is to offer reentry support for people who leave jail and help them reintegrate into society. This includes connecting them to volunteer agencies such as Project H.O.P.E and Volunteers of America Safe Return Program, who can offer services like housing, job placement, drug testing, mental health counseling and transportation back into society.
New Jersey's jails have devised an innovative drug treatment policy for inmates that combines court-based intervention and community programs, diverting nonviolent defendants from prison to substance abuse treatment. Gov. Chris Christie has declared this kind of diversionary program a priority for the state - benefitting both prison and inmate alike.
The purpose of the drug court program is to help inmates receive treatment for their addiction while in prison, so that they don't face lengthy sentences upon release. Once released, these individuals can find employment, care for their children, and lead a normal life once more in society.
Inmates with opioid addiction can find treatment through methadone, buprenorphine and naltrexone -- three federally approved medications to treat heroin or opiate addiction that help prevent relapse and overdose after release from jail. Studies have demonstrated that drug courts have been successful at improving inmate reintegration into society and keeping them off drugs, according to officials.
Once jailers become aware that an inmate has an opioid problem, they immediately screen them for opioid dependence and provide medication if eligible. The treatment process is then closely monitored by staff members for quality assurance.
Many states have attempted to replicate this system in their jails. At present, all but one of New Jersey's county jails provide similar programs for treating addiction among inmates.
Gupta told reporters on Tuesday that Camden is the only jail in New Jersey to offer all three medications, and it was the first to do so for those suffering from opioid addiction. With their success, other jails in New Jersey have been inspired to follow suit by Gupta's words.
Gupta stressed that this strategy is beneficial to both inmates and prisons alike. She noted it as a solution which will save lives while saving both parties money.
This policy will guarantee inmates access to medication-assisted treatment while in prison and continue it upon release. It's part of an effort to combat the opioid crisis which has gripped much of America.
The New Jersey Department of Corrections has come up with an innovative solution to the state's drug addiction problem. To combat this, they are providing medication-assisted treatment (MAT) at their prisons and county jails.
The Department of Corrections' policy seeks to improve the health and quality of life for inmates while they're in custody, but also helps them recover upon release and lead productive lives free from addiction afterward. Studies have indicated that many inmates with substance use disorders relapse upon release; those who receive mental health therapy in prison have a significantly lower risk for developing another substance use disorder than those without, thus decreasing their likelihood of becoming homeless or committing another crime after leaving prison.
One of the first jails in America to offer Medication-Assisted Therapy (MAT) was Camden County Jail, which began offering it in 1996 and eventually expanded it across all their jails. Every newly incarcerated individual is screened for substance use and, if they request treatment, attempts to provide medication within 24 to 48 hours after asking.
After the success of the program at Camden County Jail, several other New Jersey counties have followed suit. This statewide expansion is in part thanks to the work done by the state Department of Health which formed expert teams that can connect inmates leaving prison with services like housing, employment and addiction treatment in order to help them adjust their re-entry into society.
Many community organizations in Jersey City and Camden are working to assist former prisoners with their re-entry plans. Besides providing mental health counseling to prisoners, these groups are helping county and municipal jails install phone systems so that inmates can contact family members and friends during their confinement.
Reentry specialists have been able to connect with many former inmates who are seeking assistance or have been referred by jail staff for treatment. They work quickly to get them into the program, then monitor their progress over time so that they can assess how successful it is working for them.
