It’s been a while since the last Hollywood blockbuster, which makes "The Uncharted Movie" a real find. Much of the book is based on fact, but its central character, a prostitute who becomes a professional horsewoman, is a fictional creation.

We're re-writing the script from scratch, and I'm just jumping into that literally right now, about to close the deal and leap off. Until the screenplay is written you never know who's going to be acting in it or not. But there are a lot of good actors out there who even look like Nathan Drake and who could do it. I love the project, I think it's a great adventure and it's a wild insane ride ... the game is and the movie will be. I mean it has pretty great character at its core, Nathan is a bit of a con man, a hustler ... knows his stuff, ballsy..it's great. Absolutely. And then you know you have to do what a movie does best, as well ... build on what's cool about the game and then make it into a movie. Yeah there will be (balance) in this one, this one is a very great adventure, and it's just a matter of pulling out the the [sic] very cool intense stuff that works for the film story, and making sure the story supports those elements and also makes us really connected to the character. The new trailer shows off an adventure tale where Sully recruits Nathan (working as a…bartender?) to find some lost treasure, which is somehow connected to his missing brother Sam, whom we met as a main character (well into the future) in Uncharted 4. (Source: www.forbes.com)

As for how this compares to the games, I mean, they couldn’t even make Mark Wahlberg grow a mustache for this? Come on. It makes him look more like Nathan than Tom this way. Otherwise, the sequence of the boxes falling out of the plane certainly seems like something out of the games (did we do exactly that scene at one point?). I certainly like Tom Holland, but given that our vision of Nathan Drake is always our Nolan North-voiced adult picture, outside of a few flashbacks, it’s a little hard to connect him to the game character. This is a pretty epic day for us at Naughty Dog. It’s been almost fourteen years since our team first brought you the bombastic, jaw dropping, globe-trotting adventures with Nathan Drake, Chloe Frazer, and all the lovable characters that have come to make up the franchise – Sully, Sam, Elena, Nadine and beyond! Tangent.. this is a great example of the insignificance of race, gender and sexual orientation when it comes to people wanting fauthful representations of characters. Because of equal opportunity efforts and old world US/European fiction largely being hetero/white, a lot of the time the actors selected are meant to include minorities, or there just happens to be a great actor that isn't white that auditioned. So when people complain about characters being different, it very often just so happens to be a non-white, non-straight actor. Others who see this pattern get the wrong idea. They mean well and worry that it’s is an attack on minorities so they jump to the rescue lol, and then the person who did nothing wrong is accused of bigotry, which is of course very offensive and irritating.
